  1. I hadn’t even heard of Tomix Finetrack until this thread mentioned it. That ship has already sailed for me with a loft full of Kato Unitrak already. But the Tomytec buildings and vehicles that I have are very good and I’d be happy to see an easier way to get hold of them.
  2. When I started on the Western Region in the late 80s, everyone referred to the commencement board as the “C board” and the termination board as the “T board”. The emergency indicator was called either a dalek or a metal mickey, and the warning board was often called an arrow warning board even though they no longer had an arrow shape by then. Blue was the colour back then, and they were illuminated rather than today’s reflective type. I don’t know if that was just the Western way or whether all the regions used the same style. The “see bord” comment was just because the thread is about pronunciation.
  3. Not sure that Class 73 banker was really necessary to get them up the hill from St. David’s 🤔
  4. I think you’ve got your captions transposed David; in photo J2995 the loco is 1109 and in J3112 it’s 1987.
  5. Not bad going. The fastest time these days on the ICE is about 1h45 with a stop in Spandau. The maximum line speed on that route now is 230kmh.
  6. Yes, if the Revolution Trains website project page is anything to go by…
  7. Who knows; the summer announcement is on Wednesday. Only three months ago nobody knew about the LMS twins and yet some people now have them running on their layouts. If anyone’s listening, a 25/3 or a skinhead 31 would also be welcome 😉
  8. What wouldn’t I give to have been the bobby in Corby Glen box that day…
  9. I recently acquired some Really Useful Boxes so that I could rehouse all of my rolling stock from the banana boxes I’ve been using up until now. In no time at all, one of the boxes was being examined for suitability as a new sleeping location….
  10. Lovely image, that. Looks like a brand new Italian ferry wagon behind the loco.
  11. Given the proximity of the house to the tracks, and the fact that double glazing was probably unheard of at that time, I’ll bet the occupants could hear the point motors from indoors every time they were swung over.
