  1. Think the Golden Syrup was Airfix
  2. Well I've got at least 7 of the books on the first page. If I were able to sell them for his prices, I could either take the family away for a very good holiday, substantially improve my layout or buy a decent car. If I sold them for what they'd realistically fetch on an ebay auction, I might get a small 00 loco, a couple of coaches or a few wagons. He's either a loon or doesn't check his listings for errors.
  3. Just opened mine, runs beautifully (admittedly only on 6 yards of straight track) and romped away with 4 Mk1s. Just hope Mrs H forgets its supposed to be for Dec 25th
  4. Dunno about email address, but both Peter and Adrian were in the shop this pm. I'm sure it'll be fine.
  5. Hope to pop in at some point, family stuff permitting, as it's only about 15 mins from home. Seem to remember Mr Goss from 813 Society having lots of book and CD goodies to tempt me with.....
  6. Is this a one day event, or Sunday as well, as the website suggests? Is it Dean Academy or Whitecross School, as on the website, or are they the same?
  7. Blimey, I've got a well made, but unlined, one of those, paid £35 for it at a show a few years ago. Runs beautifully and very powerful. Not tempted to sell, though.
  8. Sir Arthur Heywood would have been proud

New D8404 +D8229 (which I've had for years) now on a rake of BR box vans next to me First visit to Lord and Butler's spacious new emporium, impressive. Paninis in Café in Pumping Station next door still good!

Just realised that I didn't order one I'd better sort that out!
  11. About 10 mins walk along Penarth Road from Grangetown station as well.
  12. Haven't been in for a few weeks, but hopefully will as soon as school hols are over, and I get some time to myself again. Helped them empty the 2nd hand stuff by buying a couple of obscure kit built GWR tanks at reasonable prices. Space was desperately short in the former shop, and there is the advantage that the Pumping Station Café is still only next door
  13. Received my 4283 a couple of days ago. Pleasantly surprised to find no obvious manufacturing faults. Looks decent, but doesn't quite have the wow factor, for me, of some Hornby steam locos of recent years (L1, Brit, Clan, King Arthur, 4MT). Not fantastically powerful, similar to my 28xx and 2884. Still, I've fitted the vac pipes and a crew (just need to get some etched plates next time I order a selection). Decent, but not excellent.
  14. Since Accucraft anounced their 7/8ths quarry Hunslet last year there has been a huge increase in interest in this scale and 1:12 scale. Several manufacturers are now producing kits in both scales. To highlight this we are holding an exhibition at Perrygrove on Sunday June the 9th. There will be several smallish layouts, a display of models and a large trade stand area with products from Modelearth, Busybodies, Talisman, IP Engineering, Minimum gauge models and more. Standard entry price to get into the railway but no extra charge for the exhibition. It is also Perrygrove's 'Vintage trains day' with Ursula pulling the Heywood saloon and brakevan. 2 train operation, with trains every 20 mins from 1040-1645. Perrygrove Railway is just south of Coleford, Gloucestershire, about 15 mins east of Monmouth, which is on the A449, and not far from the Dean Forest Railway. Prices Adult
  15. Emails received from a Liverpool box shifter yesterday suggest June/ July 2013 delivery
  16. A couple of films from my visit in August 2012: A fantastic railway. Just a shame it's so far from home
