  1. Ditto, their service to UK is very good and not expensive but minimum order is £20 or maybe $20. That is generally only 4 packs of decals so not too bad on the wallet.
  2. Old thread I know………. I contacted Hannants as they are probably the biggest UK importer of microscale decals. They flat refused (bordering on being plain rude) to order any railway/railroad related decals from microscale. Odd way to run a business but there you go….
  3. Looking for help locating 00 gauge Bill Bedford or Brassmasters axle setting gauge / jig please. Tried to buy a pair from Brassmasters yesterday only to find that they no longer manufacture or sell them. I do have a listing in the ‘Wanted’ section of the forums, but thought I would post here also incase someone knows of a trader that may still have a set. Thanks in advance. Tony
  4. Looking for axle setting gauge / jig please. Tried to buy one (pair) from Brassmasters yesterday only to be told (by them..) that they no longer manufacture or sell them. 00 gauge please.
  5. I have a number of official photos of this derailment. Falcon was indeed used at the recovery site. It appears (from the photos) that a huge dragline excavator was used to cut a slipway (for want of a better description) into the side of the embankment, which was then ‘paved’ with sleepers. Two class 47s (with huge wire ropes attached to their coupling hooks) then dragged the 37 up the incline whilst still on its side, to a point where the crane(s) could lift the loco back onto its wheels. The whole process took a month or so to complete. The 37 was repaired and returned to traffic. I even have the final costings of the operation attached to the photos which I will dig out if anyone is interested. Incidentally, as far as the photos show, the 37 didn’t reach the water, as the leading cab dug into the soft embankment.
  6. I know the feeling Bob!! Thanks for the update. Tony
  7. When/where is the next exhibition appearance for Dewsbury Midland? One of my all time favourite layouts. Its been a long time since I saw it last. cheers, Tony
  8. Except the ice blue example on Mr Bartletts site with white lettering…..🙂
  9. Resurrecting an old thread…… can anyone tell me what colour the vans in general freight use were? I have seen a few b&w pictures of them without Express parcels branding, and without tops code, just their running number. I cant tell if they were rail blue, ice blue, filthy white, or freight brown/bauxite. Also, can anyone point me in the direction of National Carriers branded (or labeled) vans? I know there was a pool of them, but internet searches have turned up nothing. Thanks, Tony
  10. I would be up for a OO gauge collett k42 bg. Would save me having to butcher one with Comet sides…. I would have thought that would be a quick win as the work is already done for N gauge variant.
  11. Only need one pair now if anyone can help? cheers, tony
  12. As the title. Wanted 2 pairs (4 in total) plough blades for Hornby shark. thanks, Tony
  13. I had already found that. I think he posted some similar on the Dapol forum around the same time. I do remember him deleting his posts on rmweb some time back under a bit of a cloud (I didn’t know what, or why). Politics aside, as we are holidaying not too far from the area, I would have liked to have seen the layout. I’ve heard nothing back from the museum and a Google image search of the facility doesn’t bring up any suggestion of a model railway there either. Thanks for your replies and input chaps. If we get to visit the place, and the layout is there, I will report back. Tony
  14. Does anyone know if the huge Basingstoke layout is still at Mora La Nova museum in Tarragona? It was built by an ex pat. He used to have a build blog on here but for some reason he took the posts down. The chaps rmweb name was The Duke 71000. We are off on holiday in the area and would like to visit if the layout is still there. Cant seem to contact anyone on site for confirmation. Thanks in advance. Tony
  15. As the title really. RM April 2007 or a scan of the drawings for Dean Lane bridge from that issue. Happy to pay sensible costs. Many thanks, Tony
