  1. NOW SOLD ……… but can’t seem to edit the listing title ……
  2. For sale is 8 pieces of Triang big big train red track. 5 straight sections and 3 curved sections £5 the lot plus postage at cost. Should be approx £3.90 for Royal Mail 2nd class small parcel.
  3. For sale is 4 Triang big big train mk2 coaches. All in good used condition. Looking for £10 ea, or make an offer for the lot. Postage should be approx £3.90 for 2nd class small parcel. Probably would need a courier (to keep the cost to a minimum) if you wanted all 4. I only charge postage at cost anyway.
  4. I’m still no further forward on this project. I tried Edwin at Kleinspoor with no luck. Any suggestions welcomed.
  5. Moved from Overseas Prototype; Does anyone know of a decal supplier that does MRCE decals and numbers for ES64-f4 ? Specifically looking for cab side and front logos and numbers as in theattached pic. thank you.
  6. Here in North Yorkshire, if you are confident that you fully understand the pd rules on the govt planning portal, (and you haven’t strayed from them!) the local planning office absolutely can not make problems at point of sale as the LDC is neither mandatory or legally enforceable. I am speaking from experience btw. I do agree with you that most folk would be better off having a little chat with the planning office before starting on their project.
  7. Fast and loose? I was just trying to generalise rather than give a full blown account. More of pointing the OP in a direction he may not of previously considered or heard of. Should the OP choose that route, the specifics are all available on the govt. planning portal. I agree with sloping garage floors re fuel spillage (I was a ground worker for 20 years and built a lot of garage bases). I was refering to another post that mentioned concrete garage floors weren’t necessarily of a decent thickness. In my experience, they were at least 4” thick. Different specs for different developers and different local authorities. But again, that would be another reason not to convert a garage (in my opinion). A lawful development certificate is only needed should you not be confident in reading the very straight forward rules on permitted development. I was just giving an alternate suggestion, based on my own experiences rather than a full blown essay on detail.
  8. I have quite a bit of experience in this field. The first thing I would point out is that if your garage is not physically attached to the house, then you can do pretty much what you like with it under the relatively new permitted development rules. However, garages were never built with making them habitable in mind. Concrete floors on garages built in the last 30 years should be a minimum of 4” thick. The raised floor idea mentioned above is a good way to get some insulation under foot. You can build a stud wall to give you a cavity which you can then insulate. Then comes the roof. Under permitted development for outbuildings and garages you can have eaves height of 2.5m (which will give you a regular 2.4m internal height as inside your house). All of this is a lot of work for a building which still might not be draught and damp proof. You could build a new building from contemporary insulated panels without planning permission for probably the same cost as converting your garage. I have attached some pics so you can see the product I’m talking about. It comes in many different colours too. It also comes with a white upvc internal wall covering. No plastering or painting required. I am currently preparing my garden to have a building of this type erected for my railway room at 62’ x 14’. It has been by far the most cost effective way forward. If you are in North Yorks I can recommend a team who can price this up for you. Hope this helps ? Tony
  9. Note to mods… could you move this to Overseas modelling please? I have posted in the prototype forum in error. thanks
  10. Afternoon all, does anyone know of a decal supplier that does MRCE decals and numbers for ES64-f4 ? Specifically looking for cab side and front logos and numbers as in the attached pic. thank you.
  11. As the title, does anyone know what these brake vans were used for? Bachmann have produced all of them I believe. The BR 20t & it’s pill box companion are very shy on the internet. My searches have brought up nothing so far. Any help much appreciated.
  12. Unfortunately I’ve no firm date, although looking at some excellent photos on Flickr and the like, I would guess at early 80’s.
  13. Noted. Although the offer of posted paper copies applies to anyone. cheers
  14. I have one at home. If this project is still going, let me know and I will post a pic when I get in tonight. Alternatively for the cost of postage and an A3 print from Prontaprint I could send you a paper copy if needed? I have altered this one with tippex to suit my own project (P1 is tippexed out for example) but I still have the origional untouched version.
  15. If you want some ideas for large layouts in different sized/shaped rooms, try Googling bob sprague’s website. He has a gallery with lots of plans. He does quite a few plans for Model Railroader mag. Sorry but don’t know how to add a link…
  16. Also, I cant reply to any of my messages (on computer at work).
  17. Can anyone help with this glitch please? I nearly always access RMWeb on my iphone, sometimes on the work computer, rarely on my pc at home. Since the outage t'other day, when I try to login, i get the privacy pop up but it is completely unresponsive. No matter which option i click, it refuses to budge. I tried to report this yesterday using my computer at work, but the pages no longer load correctly and the text box is missing so there isnt anywhere to type. Up until the outage, I have never had a problem. Same happens when I try to access World of Railways. Thanks, Tony Im using Firefox at home btw. It works as it should.
  18. Paints are something I dabble with quite a bit (when I have time anyway). NSE light blue is almost Ford monza blue or Ford electric blue (same colour different name). The closest RAL paint code to that is RAL5015. Personally I use (and swear by...) Vallejo model colour (not so much their model air). The RAL cross match is Vallejo model colour 70.736. Thin with their own brand thinner or better still with their flow improver instead of thinners. All water soluble and no smell. Seal with their polyurethane varnish. I know you were after enamel but I hope that may help?
  19. Just reading the replies to this thread (I did the survey btw) shows just how much misinformation there is out there...... The jab is not licenced for anyone, not just 18 and under. Do some research! It is an experimental drug. It is not a vaccine. (as clearly stated on the drug company’s own website). It is unlikely to be licenced before late 2023 / early 2024. All this information is freely available from the drug company(s) websites or the Governments website. Any place or event that would even consider discrimination to people that have not had a jab would be unacceptable. ....... Just my personal opinion you understand.
  20. I know this is an old post, but just to clarify, 206 was painted at Brush Loughborough when it was owned by Cotswold Rail just before it was bought into preservation. It does indeed have a darker roof than bodyside.
  21. Thanks for your replies chaps. Dan, the very decals I wanted too ! Typical. I will drop them a line anyway to see if they can order me a pack. Cheers Tony
  22. Yet again struggling to buy decals from US suppliers. Are there any stockists of the excellent Smokebox Graphics decals in UK? They ship all over the world...... except the UK. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Tony
  23. Thanks for all the replies chaps. Most helpful. I’m still bemused as to why British stockists (of Microscale military decals) can’t be ars*d to order specific railroad decal packs. Surely they could just add them to their next order? Tony
