  1. I thought they had contrasting doors? (and the 150/2's are more complex still) I still feel that the price is on a par with recent Bachmann models
  2. That's the same as the plain blue class 101 Thought they would be more considering the complex liveries
  3. Looks like a Highland Railway Jones goods to me ????
  4. Todays Kernow newsletter provides a link page to a page which outlines the progress of their various models under development http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/page/75/Chris_Briefs It states 'Two announcements will be made a Warley covering both of the models that are currently at this stage. One is steam, one is diesel, and they are both firmly in our area of expertise. There may be some more hints leading up to Warley...'
  5. Fan driven smoke units are available for O gauge here http://www.peterclarkkits.com/smoke-units--lighting-kits.html But I have not seen such a system for 4mm scale, considering how full diesels with sound already are it would certainly be a challenge. If someone was modelling a depot, or where haulage power was not a priority, it would be possible to disconnect the power to one bogie and cut away the bogie top & metal chassis block around it to create some space?
  6. Can only agree It's also the timing of the criticism when (As Andy has pointed out more than once) production has been given the go ahead, it can hardly then be described as constructive or useful Having recently started a model of Ryde the rtr model of the O2 is a real bonus. One reason I like supporting Kernow is that they risk their own money developing models such as this
  7. Received the Highlander set today from Kernow (great service as always, only ordered yesterday) Really impressed the the loco, its sounds and the coaches too (will have to dig out the 2 other highland coaches I have somewhere) I have made a quick video to demonstate some of the sounds etc here
  8. Thanks for the link. It's a shame the coaches have the basic lining of previous releases rather than the more comprehensive Lining Bachmann showed on the original box photo https://railsofsheffield.com/thames-clyde-express-split-coaches-30-170-coaches-JJJA27063.aspx http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/image_box.php?image=images1/branchline/30-170.jpg&cat_no=30-170&info=204&width=600&height=410
  9. Hi. Track is Peco code 100 I realise now that the footage I uploaded was taken at the start of the running session and the front driving wheel was coming off when travelling through one of the points due to some stray ballast. (took a bit of solving - checking back to backs etc). The footage shows the front driving wheel re-railing at the following point and hence it jumps slightly. Model was okay through the point once the problem was sorted (as well as all others, these included 3 way and double slips)
  10. I succumb to one at the weekend at the KWVR shop at Haworth (Good stock and prices!). At only £72 I agree with the general sentiments here that it is excellent value for money. I think it bodes well for Hornby if they can produce such good models at a competitive price Had a chance to run it last night and it was smooth straight out the box with no hesitation over points etc. A short youtube video clip can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVhztfCMBlg
  11. I think they would clip to the brake blocks (the pillbox brake van is similarly supplied with them separately)
  12. I my opinion Heljan have a reputation for coming up with some pretty naff models with obvious design flaws (amongst some good ones), they are anything but a well proven fact! Look at the sample kernow O2 tank if you want to see a DJM model run It would appear that Heljan have designed their 1361 tank without bothering to look at the survivor, I have more faith a company that uses all possible resources to produce a model which is as accurate as possible
  13. The TTS sound version is DCC fitted as stated here http://www.Hornby.com/lner-2-8-2-cock-o-the-north-p2-class-with-tts-sound.html
  14. I attended the excellent event at the KWVR and we were given an A4 sheet on the new coal tank model and also a small booklet On one it states that 35-050 will be unlined and on the other it states that 35-050 will be lined. It is many months from production so I am sure it will be clarified but I did think that the lined livery would perhaps be more popular, other models in fancy pre-grouping liveries have gone down a storm
  15. Hi. A good point but a problem with buying second hand kit built items is that, from my experience, people who struggle to make kits are equally bad at choosing second hand items. A couple of examples from the club I belong to are when someone brought in a wagon which looked absolutely superb. Shame that it was twisted and rocked by more than the depth of the flange, hence there was no chance of it staying on the track The second example is when someone bought a class 47 diesel built from an etched brass kit which looking stunning in red RES livery. After running on its own to check its smooth running it was placed on the track with a train of 6 coaches. Power was applied and the engine slowly gathered speed but the coaches hadn't moved. A closer look revealed that the locos cab front and buffer beam were still attached to the coaches. The beautiful looking (and quite expensive) class 47 had been superglued together and soon started started to disassemble itself further! I ended up rebuilding it (I felt sorry for the chap) but I think it would have been easier to start with a new kit
  16. Have to agree. People seem happy to pay a premium to spread other costs. Insurance is one example, another being mobile phones where people seem happy to pay a fortune each month for a contact where they get the latest smart phone 'free', when it would be far cheaper to by the same phone for cash and get a sim only contact. The fact that they are running the partwork would indicate that the trial was a success. Still undecided myself but it would be a great model to build
  17. Just seen the TV ad for the first time (on Fox channel) so should be appearing in the shops
  18. Appologies I understand now your reticence to praise Perhaps we could run a book on what we think they've printed. I'll kick off with "Shift with care"
  19. Perhaps because all we see from some posters is negativity. Sometimes feels a bit like watching someone being kicked when the're already down? Take your posting as an example. Absolutely no credit given to Dapol for actually spelling "Shunt with care" correctly
  20. Perhaps Dapol could argue that as it's a ficticious model how can it be wrong?
  21. Has anyone found photos of the other liveries being produced? Dapol say they are in their gallery but I can't find any?
  22. It is common for on-line shops to have t&c's which state that a contact is not formed until despatch of goods. An example of this is Amazon who have relied on this when they have cancelled orders for mis-priced items (which have been ordered in bulk after word has spread on the internet!). As stated above this does have to be made clear when ordering My understanding is that this was introduced because in a bricks & mortar shop, the person on the till has an opportunity to prevent something being sold for the wrong price (if a TV has a £5 price label instead of £500 then they don't have to sell it for £5). Only forming the contract on despatch for on-line shops gives them an opportunity to rectify any mistake and discuss with the customer how to resolve etc
  23. After reading your post I was disappointed to find that Hattons haven't got a closing down sale on. Perhaps that's only your opinion and not a fact? I'll have to pay a fair price for models a while longer
  24. Err.....I thought all previous statements confirm it is an NRM exclusive?
