  1. Well, unfortunately I have to report that the powers that be found there would not be enough traffic on this line, and as such, the right-of-way and surrounding property is being sold off. Many things have changed over the past couple of years for me personally, and sadly Eastoke no longer has a place in my life. I still love the SR and BR, but for now they will entertain me through books and images with what little time I have. If you are reading this and live in Ontario, Canada, and want a layout with many extra supplies to work on, do let me know. We can work something out. Email: igogoniantcrist@gmail.com Adieu to the sunny south! Will
  2. I think you can send in submissions for layout articles to Railway Modeller......you obviously have many cracking photos, Pete! Anyhow, it's been a super model.
  3. The flow of the point-and-track work looks grand! I was going to mention the very small funny double reverse curve by platform three, but you beat me to it. Hardly noticeable unless you put your eye where the camera was. All the best, Will
  4. Perhaps it might be possible to have the new extension/layout mate with the Paybury fiddle yard so you can have a choice of layouts to use? Will
  5. Pete, Many congratulations on the new little one, and likewise commiserations on the upcoming closure of the line. As someone mentioned, it really is one of the best layout on RM Web, and I consider myself privileged to have been around almost since it began. Perhaps we might see it in a publication someday? Cheers, Will
  6. Will, I've been following somewhat in the shadows, but the scenery is coming along nicely for sure. And that tractor with the Large Logo livery looks very delicious. A 37 in that scheme has always been my favourite. Cheers, Will(the other one)
  7. The viaduct does look excellent! But it should be a Britannia with Mk1's on the top......
  8. At the risk of taking over this thread, that's exactly what it is. My own thread has more details. Cheers!
  9. This looks like an excellent little plan. I'm trying something similar-like on my newish BR(SR) project. Go for it! Cheers, Will
  10. And I was going to say that the new backscene really holds everything together. Looks grand!
  11. This looks terrific! It reminds me, in terms of scenic colouring, of the Chillingworth model railway which was in Hornby Mag some years ago now. Really nicely done! Perhaps a curved piece of black card to form a few inches of tunnel walling would help disguise the abrupt stop of the scene. Cheers, Will
  12. Nice work! I like being able to switch 'types' of layout with a few well planned swaps of infrastructure. I'm still working on a new signal box for my 'Bishopdale' layout to be able to swap between LMR and BR(SR).
  13. A trick I tried on my layout when soldering droppers to the track was to cut away one or two sleepers, solder the wire in the empty space, and then insert two new sleepers with the chairs cut off flush with the top of the sleeper. Then you don't have to worry about melted sleepers and can make sure the iron is nice and hot for a quick, solid joint of wire and rail.
  14. That looks simply excellent, mate. I love the little SR terminii, and this one is no exception. The platform building and painting techniques I may have to steal for my own project! Cheers, Will
  15. Looks like a decent plan! I've always liked the Aire Valley idea myself, but never had room, time, money, you know... Is that a diamond or a slip in the station there where the slow line crosses over to the fast line? I'd probably use a single slip if it was me. Cheers, Will
  16. The baseboards by SMS sound like a grand idea. I would make three notes, if you don't mind! 1. What industry(s) and how did it/they grow? As you say 90's, it would be more than likely that some older industry would be winding down operations. 2. That being the case, the track network would probably not be so nicely laid out, if it had been built years ago, and added onto, and relaid and taken up over time. 3. Therefore, for operating reasons, I would try to have a couple kickback sidings, keeping in mind that 90's stock and locomotives are longer than stuff 40 years prior. Enjoy! Will
  17. All the best with the move and plans for the future. I must say that West Sands has been quite the lovely layout to follow, and I do hope you'll be able to pick it up again soon enough. Cheers, Will
  18. I love the shot of the 37 waiting to depart. One of my favourite diesels. The lighting at night looks grand too. Will
  19. Oooh, I love this section of the Midland. Following with interest!
  20. Looks like a good plan, and I like the shed. I can't comment much on the track layout, but if you're shunting the goods yard, it might be difficult to always have to use the branch line as the head shunt. Or maybe I've just misread the plan. Funny about dropping things on laminate floors - I've managed to drop full jam jars on them numerous times, and neither jar nor floor broke! Anyway, all the best! Will
  21. I had an idea similar to this once, but it used an island platform with a supposed Scottish region theme. Looking forward to seeing the progression of this idea. Cheers, William
  22. Lor, but if I had that skill for lamp-making I'd quit my day job! Nicely done! Cheers, William
  23. Thanks for asking Brian! Lockdown wasn't quite as severe in Canada as I think it was in many other countries. With a general idea that while necessary at the beginning, the lockdown has now served its purpose, and some think has overrun its bounds, many folks are fed up with it all. But I don't want to get too 'political' - there's enough of that 'virus' going around - so I'll just say I think most people are looking forward to getting back to normal. Anyway, hope you and your family keep well! Cheers, Will
  24. That does look quite 'in place' Brian. Cheers, Will
  25. That looks excellent, Mark! That 50 seems like a pretty powerful loco.
