  1. Looking very nice! Got to get some trains on it now, mate!
  2. Looking good, mate. I like the removable piece. Not easy to blend in but seems you've done it pretty decent. Cheers, William
  3. That's looking brilliant, James! I use a similar method for my lighting too, but the reflector is an additional bonus, methinks.
  4. I don't like pre-grouping, I don't like Johnson singles, I don't like brass kits, and I don't like clerestory coaches. Nevertheless, I am now following because I like everything I see above! Ha. Quite nicely done! Will
  5. Ballasting begins! So, I started ballasting in between school periods today. I have two months off from work for required schooling, but because of the coronavirus hype, I get to do all the school at home from my computer. So anyway, I can't ballast up to the platform since I haven't built it yet, so I ballasted everything else excluding the toe of the points. Everything is brushed into place, and tomorrow I hope to glue it all down. A few 'in progress' photos below: Cheers, William
  6. Well, after a bit of a break, due to work being exceptionally heavy over the past few weeks, I finally got the railway/aeroplane/modelling room all cleaned up with my brother, and I set up the layout completely. And then I had a good long play with it, despite really wanting to crack on with scenery. Anyway, that's for next week. I also need to get some better lighting both for photos and working in the Hayling Eastoke. Here's a few nastily lit snaps:
  7. Very cleverly done, Luke! I quite like that idea. Nice and smooth running too. Cheers, Will
  8. Good evening indeed! I'm looking forward to progress on this Hayling Island representation. I'm building a Hayling Island might-have-been in the form of a station even further down the line by the name of Eastoke. But I'm quite interested in this model of the original Hayling Island station. I love the A1x and associated stock. Anyway, cheers! Will
  9. If I am correct, one cannot upload a video directly to RMWeb(I'm happy to be corrected). Normally I upload a unlisted(so no one can search for it) video to YouTube and then copy the link here which embeds it on this site. Hope that helps - I'd be interested to see the film! Cheers, William
  10. I like the warehouses. Gives it an edge-of-the-city feel.
  11. And.....action! Well, plenty of time this weekend to setup everything in my bedroom and give it all a thorough testing- not a play, of course. So far everything electrical works as supposed to, and only one or two adjustments needed. I tried to make a video, but no use with the sun backlighting everything from the window so that will have to wait. Here are some pictures: Cheers, Will
  12. Sounds grand! As they(whoever they are) say, quite often less is more. Not having a crossover will give you some interesting operational choices. Have fun! Will
  13. Looks good - only question would be: how are locomotives going to get from the upper line(on the plan) to the lower line? Or is that being planned to take place by hand in the fiddle yard? That would require a bit of fiddling to get stock reset on the track. I might have put a point facing the opposite direction from the upper fuelling point line to the bottom line, replacing the single left hand point with a 3way point. But that's just me! Cheers, Will
  14. Golly, if I could create brickwork half as decent in twice the time, I'd have a totally different layout! And that's why I stick with grass...... Nicely done! Cheers, Will
  15. Well, the control panel was cut out on Sunday, and I wired it up(mostly) tonight. 16v AC power lines to the Gaugemaster Single Track Panel Mount Controller, then a 12v DC bus wire to all the section switches, and then from the switches to a terminal block from whence I shall run the main wires to the track. Cheers, Will
  16. Absolutely brilliantly done, Callum. I really like it. Cheers, Will
  17. Alright! I finished making the trestles and legs for the boards. Then I was granted special permission from my mum to test-set-up everything in the lounge. So, here are some pictures(do ignore the background): Cheers, Will
  18. That MLV looks excellent indeed. What make of kit is it? (I perhaps missed you saying the type earlier). Cheers, Will
  19. Well, all the electrics are completed on the main board, but I haven't built the control panel yet- today's job. Anyway, last night I connected up some crocodile clips and wire to the track and tested the first locomotive. (Video below picture). Now onto the control panel and point control - I figured out a rather different way to operate the points which will be detailed later. Cheers, Will
  20. Not much to report this weekend, other than that all the common return wiring has been completed on both boards, and the power feeds have been attached to the fiddle yard, and the switched frog wires have been soldered as well. Just need to wait for my SPDT toggle and slide switches for the control panel power feeds to the layout and then I can get the layout operational.
  21. Thanks Chris! Hopefully it shall provide some interesting operational value. Cheers, Will
  22. Cheers and thanks, Bob. I shall look it up. Will
  23. Evening Bob, I don't comment often around RMWeb but I came across your work to make your points operable, and found it quite useful in planning similarly for my own layout. May I ask a question? The wire and tube that you are using - what exactly is it constructed of, and where did you get it from? I've been trying to source a decent supply, and am having trouble doing so. Cheers, Will
  24. A colliery sounds quite nice. I loved the distillery model you built. Maybe same track plan with another siding for the screens would not go amiss! (Here I go planning layouts for other people before finishing mine!) Cheers, Will
