  1. If you look through this sub forum there are a few threads on the advert trials being undertaken and the proposed options to ensure rmweb fairly pays its way in the world.
  2. Apparently 1937 is the year the military arrived in Warminster.
  3. We have an AEG condenser** heat pump dryer. The only things I don’t like about it are: 1) sometimes the power button needs a couple of pushes to engage. It is the same on the matching washing machine. 2) It stops when it detects no further moisture is being removed, which is sometimes wrong when you have very different fabric types in the load. **flat dwellers so no opportunity to vent externally.

  5. SSE got bought by OVO and are in the process of moving accounts from the SSE platform to OVO’s in batches. We just had the fun of submit meter reading to SSE as normal. Four days later they migrate us by ignoring my meter reading and estimating a reading 30% below last years usage for the same period. raising a final SSE bill and then moving the financial balance and reading to their new platform. I find I cannot update readings in OVO so ultimately just pay estimated bill thinking it will all iron out in the end. this month I submit readings in ovo platform and they raise bill catching it all up. I pay this bill. they then raise an amended final invoice in SSE platform and submit revised financial balance to ovo platform they don’t amend opening meter readings in ovo immediately so it suddenly shows I have a large balance outstanding. a few days later they adjust opening balance in OVO and recalculate bills. During all of this there was zero communication about what was going on and the email notification of the revised SSE final bill was sent days after it had been done and over 30 days since the initial final bill was raised…. Not overly impressed with ovo so far…
  6. The shocker for us was when the last tumbler dryer died and was replaced with a heat pump fitted version, that dropped our electric usage by around 25% per annum on its own.
  7. Wasnt part of the rationale behind concerts etc after races also to stagger people’s leaving and ease congestion on local road networks?
  8. For at least one of the above the self employed drivers have (or had last time I spoke to one of their drivers ) to pay for cover if off sick as well as losing the days money.
  9. At least one of the major carrier networks went badly wrong for at least the whole of December, next day parcels taking 2-4 days and almost every multi-parcel consignment getting split and turning up over several days…
  10. Not so much for tomorrow but If you have any other relevant conditions make sure the physio team will be informed before the procedure…Physio turned up to father in laws bedside for the first session post-op having not been informed he was an amputee, and had to go away and consult on how the standard routines could be adapted…
  11. Just showed the basketball video to the wife unprompted and she completely missed the gorilla.
  12. I had one bright light flashing and another static each on front and back when I did a daily commute by bike. A motorist missed me by inches and wound down the window to shout how I should have lights on my bike….
  13. FIA not releasing their review results until the day before first race of the season… https://www.planetf1.com/news/fia-statement-abu-dhabi-grand-prix/
  14. FedEx do this regularly (and will refer to debt collectors if unpaid!!!).
  15. Something to be aware of is that if the carrier isn’t prepared to carry it, it often simply isn’t in their automated directory’s as searchable when entering consignments.
  16. I suspect they will be in an interesting position as the various TV agreements around the world come to an end. Liberty want to increase online engagement etc, but will the likes of Sky be prepared to bid as highly, and will Liberty’s updated model be as lucrative.
  17. If your bored take a quick google of “Mission Winnow” that sometimes adorns the Ferrari’s…

  19. It is an administrative charge for the import paperwork. Someone at the Polish customs office (or their post office if approved) has to examine the parcel, declaration and contents and decide if it needs duty and or VAT paying and enter the appropriate details into their systems. This is a charge for that time and the process of collecting the payment and is levied by the Polish post office, who may pay some of it to the customs office if their officers where involved.
  20. Any such charge is normally made up of : A) A fixed administration charge to cover the customs clearance paperwork (and card processing fees). 2) Import duty as required, a percentage of the goods. 3) VAT/IVA/GST at the appropriate percentage on the combined goods cost, transit costs and duty value. Sounds to me like your parcels have had the administrative part done, which have identified the consignments as zero rate duty and VAT…
  21. If you buy volume license keys (typically companies with over 250 users or some such) or the OEM licenses for pc builders(for resale rather than home brew) from Microsoft the licenses are incredibly cheap. Some people resell these which is not strictly kosher, but Microsoft rarely seem to take action. They apparently normally activate and run without a problem. More details here on the ins and outs of it https://www.tomshardware.com/uk/reviews/get-windows-10-free-or-cheap,5717.html
  22. My late uncle had a large collection he thought would be a nest egg. Come the time we were selling his estate they obtained around £20-£30 a loco, as most had much newer versions on the market, difficult to convert to dcc etc etc and were not what the market wanted anymore.
  23. Besides, If they do less well under the new regs an all new driver lineup would distract from the car
  24. Does the rest of the country suffer from advance warnings on roadworks that cannot actually be read as driving past? If I leave my road and turn right there are signs out with around 20 lines of text, less than 1” in height, set on a verge behind a combined foot/cycle path so are impossible to read as you go past in traffic… If I turn left there are signs out with around 6 lines of 3” text which is easy to read, but the dates have been written in permanent marker and are impossible to read as you drive past…
