Hi folks,
We have teamed up with our friends at DCC Concepts who have developed a decoder with an attached stay alive capacitor specifically for our TPE Mark 5 Driving Trailer.
Zen decoder software has always been smooth, clever and easy to use but the new BLACK decoder range takes this to a new level, with extended and improved automatic braking and shuttle abilities, simple-to-use ONE step locomotive set-up and advanced brown-out protection.
All DCC Concepts decoders are tested at least 3 times before they package them for sale, so they know that they all work perfectly when sold and you can be quite confident that reliability is assured.
Decoder features:
- 1.1 Amps peak power
- 750mA continuous power
- 4 functions at 100mA each
- 2 additional “logic” functions
- 22mm x 16.5mm
- 21-pin direct, 8-pin & harness
- One-Step Loco Setup
- Shuttle mode (requires ABC boards for this to function)
- Stay-Alive connection
Decoder Programming:- F0 – Head/tail lights
- F1 – Cab interior lights
- F2 – Destination boards
- F3 – Destination mode
This decoder is now in stock and can be bought exclusively via the Accurascale website right here: https://www.accurascale.com/products/transpennine-express-mk5a-dt-decoder-stayalive
Cheers!
Fran

Hi @Cheekyharry,
Many thanks for your kind words and thanks, but the stars of this show are @Steve Purves, @Pixie and of course the staff from Hattons on the original design. I just get the brilliant job to tell you all the story with it.
I'm delighted that everyone is enjoying their locos though!
Cheers!
Fran
I would think the Chinese assembly team are the stars of the show using their skill to build the models, especially the one who gave the ultimate sacrafice and assembled the purple deltic.....:) the trick is keeping them together as the skill base gets better.

My guess is most of the common Youtube suspects have ordered other models. And potentially many modellers who want an EWS 66 have ordered 171 as more representative member of the fleet and over a longer time period (from delivery to today, +/- a few details). Also 001 is a limited edition of 525 out of I'm guessing a 20k+ total production run.
The 66 is the model for today and as it was looked at as the red death when they came in force it is the Marmite of locos for the late 90,s modeller. the only ones i did not buy are this and the green freightliner.Just good to see them start to arrive and no list of this that and the other moans that they are not 110% perfect in every way.

To be honest, other than the buffer beam area, 66001 and 002 are pretty much standard bodyshells now. 001 had the lamp bracket moved, and both have the revised horn grill. The class 59 style bufferbeam arrangement is unchanged, apart from 001 having two tie downs removed to allow the tripcock equipment to be added.
For comparison, 002 still retains all tie downs
Looks like the model is missing the small rows of 4 black holes either side of the draw gear, I guess that's simple enough to add if you're keen enough.
Jo
So for anyone who likes the challenge removing the one and adding the two and the DB and HSE stickers could be modern day 66002 model made with 001, thanks for the reply Jo.
