  1. I think the company is First Class Kits. They can be found on the UK model directory.
  2. My personal favourite was Shy Talk
  3. They're the ones who have conkered their fear........
  4. The report states ' number of cases of cancer/diabetes per 1000 people or cases per lifetime decrease if x amount less red meat is consumed.I Scientists/researchers are usually pretty good at their trade. It tends to be when politicians or journalists get hold of facts which they then misunderstand that problems arise.
  5. Of all the indignities inflicted upon my poor body in the last two years the camera into the bladder was the one which bothered me the most. Silly really, didn't hurt, done with a local anaesthetic squirted into the appropriate orifice. I quite enjoyed watching the tv show from inside the bladder! It was when the catheter was withdrawn, they fill the bladder with water.........think whale surfacing!! Thar she blows!
  6. I must be owed millions!! We were taught how to make gunpowder in chemistry. Guess what we did?
  7. How do you get down from an elephant? You don't, you get down from a duck
  8. Some might say that was a bit too cryptic
  9. Around 15 years ago the water main in the lane at the back of our house burst. This was at the top of a hill and a crater about 40 feet by 15 feet rapidly opened. A young police officer arrived in his van and parked very close, above the hole. My polite suggestion that he may wish to move further uphill was met with the condescending reply " we do receive special driving training sir" No sooner were the words uttered than his van disappeared into the hole. I may have sniggered.
  10. And add to that the chemical industry and steel production.
  11. Yeah, that should do it! But it should be a sticky and preferably compulsory reading. And I agree, we did get to see all the best bands. If only I could remember them!!
  12. Please tell your friend that he has exactly the right attitude. I started from nearly where your friend is 22 months ago. Treatment has been similar except I'm on the Arasens trial testing a new drug called Daralutamide, not the Stampede. My PSA has been <0.1 for over a year. I went in with the same stubborn attitude and sense of humour. I am convinced, as is my oncologist, that a positive attitude helps. I know it's hard but tell him not to worry about the future as much as possible. Focus on todays challenge, beat that then look at the next one. Please give your friend my best wishes. BTW, the usual limit for chemo (docetaxyl) is ten doses, six given early, four held back in case the initial six need a help, and provided they are tolerated well. Your friend might enquire about this if need be? It can vary around the country or if the chemo is another type. All the best Andy
  13. Thank you for the kind words and thanks for the 'likes' I'm looking forwards to many more years playing, sorry, modelling trains. Could I make one request for all the men on here who are over 50? Please go to the doctor and ask for a PSA test. It's just a blood test. If you are over 50 then they can't refuse. I had no symptoms of note before the unpleasant incident which sent me to my doctor. Another 6 months and the cancer would have gone into my bones, much harder to cure. 6 months earlier and my journey would have been easier. Best regards Andy
  14. Good morning everyone. I've just found this thread and thought I would add my journey. Who knows, it may help someone. In November 2017 I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Initial psa 738, Gleeson 9, tumours in abdomen, lymphatic system and one lung. If you are going to do something do it well!! Fortunately no mets in my bones. Started immediately on ADT (androgen deprivation therapy) big dose of Degalerix followed by a smaller dose monthly for the rest of my life. Accepted onto Arasens trial (new drug, Daralutamide) two tablets twice daily. Part of the trial involves looking at the genetic component of myself and my cancer and how well I respond to treatment. This hopefully will help tailor treatment for others in the future. Part is looking at the new drug and part is looking at stem cell research. Chemotherapy, never fun, 6 rounds of docetaxel at three week intervals. Could be worse. The good news? After final chemo, PSA <0.1, really as good as it gets. It was really encouraging seeing it drop throughout treatment. The bad news? The CT scan post chemo showed bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Big panic, twice daily heparin injections for 6 months. Tablets forever. Also tablets for post chemo blood pressure issues. Dealt with that, getting back to normal, fell, broken wrist. Plated and now getting back strength and movement. Bad news? The reason my wrist broke so badly is osteoporosis, as a result of no testosterone. Honestly, you couldn't make it up!! But I'm fine. From a bad place, I'm on my feet, happy, we've been showing our Shetland pony, my psa continues at undetectable, and my last scan showed the tumours have shrunk between a half and two thirds. My onco shakes his head and reckons something else will kill me! This thing can be fought, and research is only going to improve our ability to fight. Throughout this my wife has been a tower of strength, even though I believe that it's worse for those close to watch than it is for me to fight. The kindness of friends had at times brought me to tears. The NHS has been tremendous. From the receptionist at my local surgery to my oncologist, I can't fault any aspect of my treatment. From their professionalism to their compassion with a healthy dose of good humour, they are all wonderful people. Not least, I've lurked on here throughout. Many days when I've been ill, had chronic CBA, I've read through posts and threads on here, laughed and admired. Thank you. It's helped more than you could know. This is the first time I've written this down. Hope it helps someone. Andy
