How quickly do revolution answer support requests?
damian replied to damian's topic in Revolution Trains
I used the support form on the website, so not really an email address at all Damian -
Just wondering how quickly revolution answer support requests from the contact form on their website? I pinged one over a week or so and not heard anything. I don’t mind if consensus is it takes a while, just want to know it isn’t lost to a spam folder

In that case I guess it’s a Christmas or busy thing so I will chill for a bit

In the absence of any better places to ask how long does it take the 2mm shops to respond? I placed a track order about a week ago and heard nothing. Its not that I need it in a rush just I want to know at least they have the order and it will come at some point, I have heard nothing back.

I'd be somewhat careful of giving too much weight to reports in various media that tend to be popular with older people, including here. There are groups of like minded modellers where older members really are the exceptions. For example try discord in general and the LMM discord specifically for a significant number of modellers half my age.

UK 3d printing marketplaces...
damian replied to Din's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
I am interested in what resin printer you have and what resin? https://a360.co/3tGY8OU and https://a360.co/3lQTXze both printed out fine for me and the later with no supports. How robust do the models need to be? Genuine question :-) here are the prints -

A Guide to using the Silhouette Cameo Cutter
damian replied to JCL's topic in Scenery, Structures & Transport
There is an option in the silhouette software to cut past intersections so this would give you sharper corners, maybe do two runs so one can have this setting on the other off -

Has anybody tried the Pazzles cuter http://pazzles.com/products/creative-cutters/inspiration/specifications/ It says 1.8mm and 1000 gram pressure. Maybe this machine would do 40 thou plasticard? -
I am wondering if I might spray my kirow in network rail yellow? I have a thing for yellow and its my train set........ A couple of Kirows and a track laying train will look awesome in a yard with my NMT :-) What is the usual formation of the track renewal train? I assume the second wagon is the track storage wagon so for longer lengths of rail would there be more? If so are you going to sell them separately

Right lets demolish the British Library and relocate Paddington into the gap. I have always hated that building. A tunnel due East from the current site out to be pretty doa-able :-)

Like I said, its only the villages between Maidstone West and Strood but it is a pain in the bum. There used to be a 7:45 train from Snodland to Strood which was ideal for work for me and amongst the busiest on what is otherwise a quiet line. I hope the fact that now that people are now using the bus doesnt close the intermediate stations.

It has cut the frequency of the services on the Medway Valley line. Which is not ideal if you live in the villages between Maidstone and Strood.

Based on the picture in your previous post I think your mock up (plus the odd couple of inches) will really work. I was wondering about the proportion of the height to the width; if you cut down the height too much the building will look wrong. What is your plan in terms of making these buildings? Are you going to start on them prior to making baseboards and laying track? The reason I ask is I am wondering who committed you are to a given size before seeing the actual effect in situ? Damian

From memory there is a model of an American prototype with full height skyscrapers in it. Effectively it dwarfs the trains which is an effect I love but it does almost make the railway a secondary element to the city scape diorama. At the risk of stating the obvious could a couple of cereal boxes make do as place holders to see? One of the key elements has to be the way the trains duck in and out of visibility between the towers? Damian

The use of angled aluminium in the fiddleyard is a work of genius. I am going to blatantly nick that idea!!!
