  1. The official book of words and pictures mentions they were converted from LNER 4200 gallon tenders.
  2. Thank you Russ. Perhaps a lot of effort for something that will rarely move but the railway i remember had lots of interesting bits sitting in odd corners..
  3. The second plough is under way. This one has the radiator removed.
  4. So how about a VIX owners get together to recreate the test train lol
  5. Phew. I was beginning to think I’d imagined it.
  6. I’m very impressed. My two have completed a tour of the main running lines on my layout including the two radius two reverse loops. The lower loop has gradient changes too. No derailments. I seem to recall seeing a picture of a test train made entirely of these vans with a 37. I’ve searched the net but not found it.
  7. My layout is a double track spiral. It is fully 'track circuited' and there is rudimentary interlocking between signals and points etc. This has taken nearly all the stress out of being 'assisted' by my little people when i have an operating session.
  8. I did fiddle with a few settings but nothing changed. I was rather hoping someone else had encountered similar problems. The Zen decoder and stay alive add ons have revolutionised my 03’s and 08’s. I was hoping for the same with the Austerity.
  9. New decoder arrived and fitted to the austerity. All is well. Zen fitted to Rapido Ring Haw. All is well but the stay alive gear is not fitted.
  10. Reset done. No change. Awaiting the delivery man and replacement decoder. The zen will be redeployed. I will revisit the possibility of getting it in the Rapido loco
  11. It’s a DCC concepts zen black. It has performed perfectly in a Rapido Ring Haw that I believe also has a corless motor. It’s simply too big to fit in the Rapido loco I thought it would transfer to the EFE Austerity where it does fit.
  12. The stay alive is unplugged in the video. The loco has performed satisfactorily with another decoder.
  13. I've bought a Next18 decoder with three wire stay alive, charging board and stay alive capacitor and crammed it all in the smokebox of my EFE Rail Austerity.. No matter how gentle I am with the controller it leaps off wildy but quickly settles to the speed set. Transition between speeds is pretty good. Stopping is equally wild. The decoder and associated stay alive work as expected work fine in another.loco. Any ideas as to what's going on?
  14. I have a 1974 freight WTT that still has a train booked to call at Prentice’s. Trying to find it.
  15. I've ordered a couple. Here is my favourite photo of this type of wagon... https://www.eastanglianrailwayarchive.co.uk/Railways/Cambridge-to-Kings-Lynn/i-tL4pmGP/A
  16. I have a second Kitmaster 08 that will get that treatment in due couse. Unfortunately the axles were glued on this second one and i suspect it wont take too kindly to me pushing the back to back gauge in. I got away with it on the first one.
  17. Now it has proven itself to a certain extent I’ll carry on a give it wasp stripes etc.
  18. Now stuffed with plasticine it has spent the afternoon into the evening being propelled around… so far without incident.
  19. I have an EFE Rail J94 and I can’t remember if it came dcc fitted or not. Is it possible to identify this decoder and can I fit a stay alive?
  20. My Christmas present from Mrs LNERGE has arrived.. Christmas 2021 that is. Welcome Ring Haw.

  21. Hi Russ I’ve reported vegetation locally after I saw a branch cause a flashover across an insulator. Nothing happened until about two weeks ago ( about nine months after reporting) Now it looks like there is a scorched earth policy on SBR1.
