We had 41.7 (in the shade) in our garden (Hampshire) earlier. Not with a properly calibrated thermometer, admittedly.

  4. One of my boxes at home has a Stevens frame if you need pictures or measurements.
  5. Many thanks for the pictures and links to the pictures. progress so far. Roller bearing axleboxes, oleo buffers and steel plates on the ends and above the Duckets…
  6. Will we see Danny the dumper running down a train of Grampus wagons with the ends down and the spare bits stowed in the cages under the wagons? <G>
  7. If this train was going the other way..
  8. That’s the picture I’ve seen. The brake van attached to the pilot at Bristol was for track circuit issues much like 03’s and a conflat. I’ve now found some on flask trains but in later liveries. When did battery electric tail lamps start to be used?
  9. I'm looking for pictures of this type of bake van with battery electric tail lamps. One found so far.
  10. Nights last night. New points tested into service in London. A bit zombie today but with resolve to find me a new Deltic. To no avail though..

A knock on the front door.. Parcel for Mrs LNERGE. She immediately hands it to me... My favourite Deltic, with sound..

I decided that many years ago after her reaction to the Vulcan taking off from RAF Cottesmore…

  11. I use the Merg dtc8 block detectors driving relays. Here is one of the illuminated diagrams. https://www.flickr.com/photos/32297024@N08/52145853587/
  12. You will most likely need to disconnect the stay alive to alter any settings on the decoder. I’ve done several TTS decoders now with stay alive capacitors. The most spectacular result has been 08623.
  13. Two were kept at March for the Wisbang -Deanside. A friend of mine has one of them. I’ll have to check but another friend may have the other. Edit to add.. yes the last two at March are still about.
  14. Seeing the loading dock and inspection platform was a great help in explaining what went on. The Ruston cross arm digger was good too
  15. We visited today. The place is so much tidier than my last visit many years ago. I was impressed with shunting as were my little people. The ride was ok. The cake was superb.
  16. I'll send the rest of the plan after work tomorrow. It implies the line to Godmanchester became a siding.
  17. Oh jeepers Betalights. The last time i saw these ones they were down the bank...I wonder if they made it to Drigg?
  18. Another process here?.. https://fredstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/Hitchin-Steam-Reformer-Site-for-fredstarr.com-converted.pdf
  19. Another experience I had at Cambridge was when I was around ten or eleven years old. I’d made it there from Letchworth by myself to watch trains. I noted a trap point had both blades standing open in the South Bay. I reported it to a member of staff. They had a look and said they’d find someone who could explain what was going on. They did find someone and the chap explained it was a wide to gauge trap and why it was like it. Neither person had to go as far as they did. It was most educational and inspirational.
  20. A couple opf years ago i had around 30 minutes to kill waiting for a train onto the GN. I decided a good way to pass the time would be to work out how the track circuits are arranged through the scissors crossover. It was to be done in my minds eye as there are two separate track circuits on the straight lines. I'd been at this about ten minutes when a voice out of nowhere said 'would you like a cup of tea and a chat'.. I had hell n all job convincing the lady i wasn't contemplting jumping.
