  1. Finished painting stone work for the arches, based on those that were at Tyne Dock. Coping stones next. Most of this will be hidden by foreground track on an embankment
  2. Here is a mock up of some of the back scene. When complete, this will be mostly hidden by the staiths. The ship is the Cliff Quay, one I am familiar with
  3. Sheriff primed and removing blemishes. Blue or green. Fleetwood Shaw told me Tindale & Alice were green and Stephenson black, however Dandie Dinmont was blue, so pay your money and take your pick
  4. Well it doesn't look like much, but track base done. end boards on and a start on the arches made
  5. What a b****r. nowhere in the instructions does it say you need an extra pair of hands. I think I'll go back to building my own. This is too flimsy and tends to twist (Not in a Chubby Checker way)
  6. Thanks for that, Going to start this evening, will post some snaps!
  7. Well, found this Grainge & Hodder baseboard kit in the attic, completely forgot about it. It'll do nicely for W.H. Alas no instructions.
  8. Thank-you all for the interest. I have a FB group Ian Blenk's Model Railways and Musings which you would be welcome to join
  9. Axle springs in place. Not a lot more to do, pipe work and reversing rod etc. Pleased to say it is running well A little bedding in on the body will straighten the cab.
  10. Footplate lowered and chimney in place. Still needs a little fettling to get body snug on footplate. Waiting for axle springs, but can be fitting hand rails.
  11. First of all I have dystonia, which amongst other things causes a Parkinsonian tremor in my hands, this means I have to think a little more carefully ahead to allow for it. I cut the splashers with a compass cutter, I would have preferred to scored the plastic card with dividers, but this way is easier for me. The beading on top of the splashers is cut from 20 thou plastic sheet, form it round a paint brush and stick it on so it is just over width for the splasher. This was a to do and I have a bin full of failed attempts! Where it joins the footplate I just used some micro strip. I hope that is useful. As I say without the tremor I would probably done it differently
  12. Making progress with Sheriff. Footplate too high, that's the next job!
  13. It's difficult, because they pay to come in and I think some have unrealistic expectations. I'm pleased to say that 99.99% of my ex colleagues are excellent folk!
  14. Well, I used to work with the guy. He kept grabbing the rolling stock on the layout and was very insistent that he filmed the model, just rude really. That is one of the reasons I don't like exhibiting.
  15. A basic track plan, kind of based on Amble. The staiths are running behind the exchange sidings. Platform/station where the ruler is. Had to extend to 4', so I guess that bars me from the micro layout forum.
  16. I have a FB group; Ian Blenk's Model Railways and Musings if you want to see other stuff. I don't expect I'm allowed to broadcast that on here. Glad HBG got a good reception very flattering!
  17. Thank-you, alas no more exhibitions, they really take it out of me, but regular updates on here! Ian
  18. Hi Paul, It is going to take some time to complete, I'm still messing with the track plan. As it is likely to be my last layout, I want it to be just right! Ian
  19. Here's a mock up of the staiths and arches. They were built for another project, but will be modified for W.H.
