Well today i have managed to finish off the Highland TPO so it ready for painting the Mail dropoff Equipment & net will be fitted after painting After rolling the roof i fitted it along with the roof lights which needed the ends filling wich i managed to do with low melt solder I also made the end steps plus fitted the end grabrails the truss rods were made up from .7mm wire & some split pins the rest of the chassie detail was then fitted all of this is from 247 Development I have made this coach so that the chassie is bolted on to the body to aid painting This is now sat on the radiater drying so it can get a coat of primer tonight then it will be painted over this week Next on my work bench is a 247 developments Kit for a GWR Dia L23 lot 1503 a twin pick up Post Office Stowage Van

Hi Larry the diner needs some part wich i need to order to finish it then when Mr S is ready it will be off to him for painting & the all 3rd will be done after i have done this & 2 more TPOs Asto the Highland TPO yes there did last till at least 1959 I am finishing this one in LMS livery I have 2 here for re-coupling that you painted 1 in Highland livery 2005 & LMS livery 2004 Brian
  4. this afternoon i have been working on a set of etches from 247 Development for a Highland Railway heres what you get from 247 well i had a brass chassie which with a bit of triming fits this needs to be 184mm long i have built up the body without its cast fittings & the chassie still needs truss rods & it castings fitting which i hope to get done tomorrow which i got from 247 with the etch you get a roof which needs rolling i will also do this tomorrow the bogie are from 247
  5. the way the kit was designed made fitting the doors easy to fit as they had a 90degre fold from the sides to give you the recess the thses had push out tabs to locat the doors the roof i had to roll but the roof is made up from 5 long etches plus 5 ribs/formers the loow roof was 1/2 etched so was nice tp roll but the clerestory roof was not & was a pig to roll

  7. well so far today i have built up the roof & fitted mopst of the underframe casting but as these are not in the kit i need to order some Dynamos & gangways tofinish of this coach I found the roof nice to build & roll thow it was a tight fit between the ends when i build the all 3rd i will build the roof 1st so that the roof will fit better hers the pics

  9. thanks for the coments chaps latter i will have a Midland Railway Dia 572 12 wheel 3rd class dining car which ran with the Dia571 but once i have finished this coach i have 3 TPOs to build before i can build the Dia 572 Back to the Dia571 well i have built up the chassie, body & bogie which i have replaced with ones from the 247 Developments range & i will be sell the 2 pair of 5522 Midland Bains 12 wheel bogies from this & the Dia 572 kit i still have the corridors to build up & then the interia but thats a job for tomorrow as is the roof them i will be fitting the castings to the coach I am not a fan of this type of coach build i like to have a chasie that is bolted to the body like the Comet kits so painting is easyer ( but then i will not be painting this coach ) well heres a update pic
  10. Today i have made a start on a 5522's kit for a Midland 12 wheel 1st class Dining car dia0571 So far i have built most of the chassie brasswork apart from the solebar steps After lunch i hope to get the rest of the chassie done & make a start on the body

  12. well the HST power car has now got its transfers on & about to get a coat of satin varnish & once that is dry its just the glazing then its finished I fined water slide transfers a pain but heres some pics of the Car

  14. well at the Huddersfield show i built up the next coach for the layout a Jubilee 1st built from Bill Bedford etchs & 247 Development parts over the weekend i got all of the soldering done now all i have to do is build up the seating & paint the coach Tonight this Gentlemen was seen getting off the last train of the day asking if any one had seen Binky ??
  15. i know that the name plates are been made as i type in the UK but when the loco will be in the UK I have know idea
  16. The customer sent modified couplings to fit to this coach he had removed the bar & hook from the old type honby coupling then put a new bar on one which the hook on the next carrage will not hook under so that when this hook goes over a ramp the hook will release from the modified bar
  17. well one of the jobs i did today was to finish off the Comet kits kit No W46 of the Dia F24 slip coach I have found this as with all the other Comet kits i have built a nice kit to work on with no problems though i did replace the seating from the kit with southern pride seats

  19. Today I am painting coach one is the GWR slip coach which I have painted the ends black and a Chivers LNER 4 wheel brake van (pigeon) again its in teak livery The next job for this coach is to letter up the sides then varnish them , glaze & fit the roof.

    The exhibition will take place as usual in the Holmfirth Civic Hall, this year it is over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of October. There are some very nice exhibits this year including The Long Line - Castle Hill by Mark Henshaw, this is the layout which was in BRM for many months as the Long line diaries. We also have Arrowmouth from the Redditch model railway society as well as New Haddon Colliery, a superb EM gauge layout by the Stafford model railway circle.
