  1. A few months since I managed to do anything on the workbench thanks to work, more work and real life issues. No photos today but I did manage to sound fit my first loco. A Q1 and some how I got the chip and the speaker to fit in the boiler. A tight fit but well worth it having the sound in the right place. Heading up to Swadlincote tomorrow to help with the Gresley and Wychnor Mince Pie weekend. Hopefully while I'm up there I can convince Andy P to assist me sound fitting one of the M7's. It may require some surgery to achieve this one. No work for the rest of the month, so there is a possibility of some modelling taking place again.
  2. A productive day. Ironing mountain is now a small hill and my sound decoders arrived just over an hour ago. My Q1 is now sound fitted ready for the weekend. I just need to run the M7 before fitting that one. The only down side is that the transfers haven't turned up for the wagons. Hopefully they'll get here before I leave tomorrow. Time to sort out the stock that I'm taking,
  3. Morning all, A lot has been done before logging on. The day will be spent anticipating the arrival of decoders and transfers. I can but hope. Not a great deal planned for the rest of the day apart from getting ready to head to Derbyshire. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  4. Thanks Baz It's one of the better references but still gives scant detail. A trip to York looks like it will be in order in the new year. I'll be contacting them tomorrow to see if there is any suitable material. I forgot to add that the World War 2 study group website is no longer there.
  5. I'm afraid that I've already approached them and all they can provide is personal stories and what equipment was carried. As for the formation of these trains in 1944, all they can tell me is that they were 14 coaches/wagons long which I already knew. I do know that the LMS converted period 1 stock but details are scarce.
  6. A day of shopping (not much), modelling and research. The research bit is causing me some headaches though. There doesn't seem to be a great deal in print about WW2 Ambulance/Hospital trains and what there is is contradictory. I'm still waiting on the sound decoders and transfers which will hopefully arrive before I hed to Swadlincote.
  7. Morning all. A great nights sleep for a change but feel worse for it. A day of modelling and a bit of shopping, so nothing strenuous. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  8. Time to rest my eyes. I've had an evening of fitting metal buffers and 3 link couplings on wagons. This is in preparation for some transfers to arrive and be fitted before letting Andy P to teach me how to weather wagons. Night all
  9. A relaxing day of tidying the modelling room. There is more to do. A bit of food before some modelling takes place.
  10. Morning all. Late on parade but it does make a nice change. Obviously my body is in a recovery phase after the last few months. Not a great deal planned for the day apart from possibly some modelling. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  11. Not a great deal done today but some modelling tokens have been spent on a couple of sound decoders. Hopefully I can get them fitted before the Gresley and Wychnor MTG Mince Pie Open Event. That way I can get a weathering master class from Andy P. Some other modelling will need to be done before Thursday as well.
  12. Morning all. After my late departure to bed, a late start. A very fine drizzle at the moment but at least it's warmer than it has been. I have absolutely nothing planned for the day so I may return to tidying the modelling room at some stage. Rick - Best of luck tomorrow. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  13. I was planning on having a reasonably early night but I got distracted with prototype research. Night all
  14. Not a great deal done today. Washing has been done and some (very little) tidying of the modelling room as well. I got totally engrossed in the rugby and decided that I couldn't be bothered to cook tonight. A Thai takeaway was the solution and it was better than I expected.
  15. Morning all. A day of sorting out the modelling room while the washing is done. If I get far enough, some modelling might even be done. I may have to stop this afternoon to watch Wales v South Africa. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  16. I took today as a purely relaxing day and did none of the small jobs that were planned. Instead I spent most of the day deciding which loco I'm going to get sound fitted and catching up on all the threads that I've neglected over the last few weeks. Tomorrow I'd better deal with the mountain of washing.
  17. Morning all. I think that I had the right idea with not setting the alarm. A few minor jobs to tackle today but nothing that can't wait if I don't feel like it. GDB - Happy Birthday and enjoy the day. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone.
  18. No alarm set for the morning. Night all
  19. Evening all. A strange last couple of days. Yesterday was going to plan until an extremely urgent call out came in at 15:00. I attended but due to several reasons I didn't get back to my digs until 22:30. Today was an early start (04:00) to get to site at a decent time for my last day of current employment. One item that had to be delivered and was due to arrive at 09:00 didn't arrive until 11:00. I got home at 14:00 and I promptly undertook an extended eyelid inspection. At least tomorrow I don't even have to venture out. Time to catch up on some other posts over yet another coffee.
  20. Morning all. A chilly start to the morning but no frost. Hopefully today will be spent in the office with no problems to deal with. Time for another coffee. Have a good day everyone
