@ Tim, yes it was a magical place, for a while I worked just across the road so I was always in there during lunch hours if the weather was poor. I got paid on Fridays so it was a ritual to go there and purchase a book. I got to know an older gentleman ( well to me back then) by the name of Andy I once purchased a book via mail order from another company years previous and I just mentioned to him that my cover had arrived all torn and the original supplier wouldn’t help, about a week or so later I had a brand new dust jacket free of charge. Its service like that which keeps me loyal to certain companies and away from faceless giants like Amazon. I do use Abebooks a lot though. Andy

Charleston is a great place, I spent my Honeymoon there. Unlike 99% of the USA traffic lights are like the UK and mounted on poles at the side of the road and me and my wife looked on both in shock and laughter to watch drivers shoot through red lights because they were looking up and not to the sides of the road. Yes its clean with some good rail action and a great sea food and Mexican restaurants. Just to the north is IIRC Boone Hall, where one of the epic American Civil war movies/ TV series was filmed. Having tried to start a small group here with a few fellow modelers which fell through I was left with a few bits of British OO stock so after about 12 months delay and one house move I've roughly decided on what I want it's now time to find the right prototype. Space is a big problem the boards we had already built had to be taken down and I am now down to a layout size of approximately 16' by 2'6 to 3' for the scenic section and allowing 4' to 6' for a staging area. I came across a useful website GWR Modelling and read a few pieces on avoiding the cliche. Brentford/ Brentford dock took my fancy but I felt it was a bit too much to take on So I dug around and came across a page on Staines West which I think is 99% of what I am after. As were not sure if were going to buy the house we are living in I am restricted to a small garage of 26' by 14' which I share with other houshold item, if we do stay then an option would be to make space and add the Linoleum works as an industry instead of off stage. Oh and may I ask what color is a suitable ballast color, I have looked at what few color photos I have and all the exposures seem to be showing good detail in the loco and stock and the ballast seems washed out. My initial choice would be for Woodland scenics buff although I like the brown, my only concern in WS Buff also seems a bit bright for limestone? Andrew

I found it odd reading on Yahoo this morning all the negative comments about this project. Surely a project like this would help your economy by speeding transportation times? Also theres the green issue must be better for the enviroment? I saw one comment say were supposed to be moving forwards not backward which made me laugh or should we widen the roads instead.
