Thank you John. With regards to the kadee couplers. I Definitely prefer them to tension hooks, but it’s essential to get the height right. I’ve found on some stock it’s better to remove the nem pockets and attach them directly to the body. A gauge height is essential for this. I have used under track magnets on this layout, you can just make them out on post 69. It is quite expensive to change over a lot of stock in one go, so would probably recommend just doing a few at first to see how you get on. I use Kadee no. 146 whisker couplers, when I attach them directly to the body.

That's great, thank you; I've read various threads and note that heights can be a bit problematic (even between the front and rear of a locomotive in some-cases).

Thanks as well for identifying the magnets, much appreciated!

That is very neat, I did one of those but not as legible as yours. Did you dry brush the lettering?

Thank you Martyn,

painted the backboard first, then used a very fine artists pen to pick out the letters and the edges.

So after a lot of pondering, I decided to extend the layout. I have added about another 30cm to the left, this area is now a scenic fiddle yard. All this meant it no longer fits inside the really useful storage box. So I decided to add a permanent backscene and a control panel at the front. This now means that the layout is plug and play and can be set up in minutes.

Original layout.

This video is surely the epitome of the micro, and for me a pleasure to watch too. Thanks for posting it up.
