Long may time stand still at Little Muddle! 4

Long may time stand still at Little Muddle! I must admit if LM moved into the early 50's nothing much would change apart from a repaint of a couple of locos into early BR black... along with blood and custard on some coaching stock A few vehicles might change such as the Thornycroft truck to an BR bedford Edited October 7, 2021 by John Besley . 1 4
MrWolf
Of course, I forgot that a complete repaint of a station means that it will close the next month.

Popular Post KNP
Ready for painting. Dean Goods 2322 with her new tender chassis, as one of my static models decided to use glue as I’m not to confident my electrical soldering iron was up to the job….. Tender body just loosely fitted until chassis painted then the two will be glued together . Tons better than the old motorised one, can see through the wheels for a start…..! Used the original rear buffer beam and fittings so it matches the front for style, held in place at the moment with a tiny piece of blu tac. 23 12
RMweb Premium Neal Ball Posted October 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2021 Nice bit of work there Kevin. Btw; are you loco shed door fitting gang still working on hanging those doors? I made doors (years ago) for the loco shed at Henley on Thames and only found them today. I might need their skill and experience if they are available. :-) And with that lovely tender chasis, I'm sure I could send a few jobs your way as well! Have a good evening. Thanks, turned out to an easier project than I thought. I can ask the gang about hanging your doors but they are still working out how to do mine!!!! Could you imagine the hassle there would be of you sending them to me and me getting them back to you!!!! I feel the system would overload… 6

Well, guards were issued with pocket watches in my time - and expected to use them. I recall Peter Rayner hammering me on the 10.00 morning conference when a SE guard had been found running several minutes early on an up Chatham stopper. 'Ding ding and away' was just too easy. OTOH station clocks were large and visible, and supposed to be checked regularly, so I suspect that was how the railway expected porters and other station staff to know the time. 2 3

I think you're right - unless the porter had inherited a watch he probably wouldn't have had one. Peter Rayner - used to enjoy "meetings" with him in the Battle of Trafalgar at Brighton. 2
