RMweb Gold 46444 Posted March 28, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 28, 2010 Hi there, Been looking at adding some extra loco types to my Cornish based layout other than the usual BZ regulars. I found some fots of 33103 'Swordfish' around Cornwall in March 2006 from a site I use a lot and well worth a look-link below: http://www.southwestrailphots.fotopic.net/ It's hauling a single green carriage and my questions are: What type of coach is it? What is it? What was it doing in Cornwall? How could one be modelled? Has anyone modelled one? Fots below plus an amazing shot of the train on the Calstock Viaduct-a bit too east of Cornwall for me though : http://www.southwestrailphots.fotopic.net/p46200996.html http://www.southwestrailphots.fotopic.net/p46201000.html http://www.southwestrailphots.fotopic.net/p46201001.html Hattons are selling off Heljan 33103's at £44 so could make an interesting variation on the norm. Thanks. Mark

Thanks. Mark The green coach is an inspection saloon called Caroline. It gets around a bit. It's fitted with driving controls so that it can be propelled but that might be post-2006. A picture of the saloon itself. I'm not sure of the provenance of the saloon but I have a feeling it's only modelable in its current form by modifying a brass kit. It gets discussed on here moderately regularly.

Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply. At least I know what it's called now! That's probably why I've never been aware of previous discussions due to it being called 'Caroline'. It's a good fot though. Thanks once again. Mark

RMweb Gold 46444 Posted March 29, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 29, 2010 Hi Martin, Thanks for the info. That's a useful site. Guess the question is as anyone built Caroline and from what source. Guess it would be a bit of a task? Cheers. Mark

Will keep my eye out. Thanks. Mark

What shade of green is it? As for Tim's comment re: RTR I think it's a case of the Emporer's New Clothes!!! Can't you see the bogies and underframe gubbins? Thanks once again to you both. Cheers.
