Grahamrfd
Hi, I'm hoping to make some transfers for my parkside utility vans but can't find any photos showing the small lettering clear enough to read. Does anyone have a photo showing this or a model with it on already? Thanks Graham Edited March 10, 2018 by Grahamrfd

Grahamrfd
Have you looked through this collection? http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/?q=BY%20van Yes, first port of call and is fine for most of the lettering but on some wagons there is some very small lettering, They don't all seem to have it though so I can just leave it off I suppose. Thanks Graham
RMweb Gold Dan Randall Posted March 28, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm hoping to make some transfers for my parkside utility vans but can't find any photos showing the small lettering clear enough to read. Thanks Graham Hi Graham If you're looking for transfers to fit the long wheelbase ex SR PMV & CCT, I did some artwork and had some custom made in 7mm scale a few years ago by Steam & Things (in Australia!), which then became part of their range.... If you contact Steam & Things, I'm sure they could do you some in your chosen scale.... http://www.steamandthings.com Regards Dan Edited March 28, 2018 by Dan Randall 1
Fat Controller
What scale are you modelling in? Railtec ( http:/www.railtec-models.com/scale-model-transfers.php ) may do them; look under both 'coaches' and 'wagons' Modelmaster also probably do them ( https://modelmaster.uk/12-4mm-waterslide-railway-decals )- again, you'll have to look. Fox (https://fox-transfers.co.uk/ ) may also stock them.

railtec-models
Modelmaster dont do them for blue livery. I asked Railtec about a year ago for ones for CCTs and PMVs and are still waiting........... They're still on the radar. It would be great to have reams of Amazon-esque designers just sitting around on their elbows waiting for requests to come in, but I simply don't. The reality is that I get more requests for new packs and one-off work than you could imagine. This in addition to all the R&D, testing, replenishing stock, keeping up with new liveries, web coding, marketing, working with TOCs and other stakeholders. Not to mention the continued crippling deluge of emails, IMs, FB tags + more. Thankfully most folks respectfully understand that there are only so many hours in each week and only so much that can be done, and that because a request gets asked doesn't mean that I'm obligated to do it within a specific timeframe. I try to help as many people as I can and generally say - "Yes, I can do it though I'll add it to the wish list and I will get to it as and when I'm able. If you absolutely cannot wait then try Fox." The enthusiasm to get to specific requests does wane a little when there appears to be a lack of appreciation of what it takes to keep such a specialised niche service above the water line. I do what I can. Edited April 5, 2018 by railtec-models
Beclawat
I'm looking for transfers for a Slaters 7mm PMV in BR blue and came across this old thread. Does anyone know if any transfers have become available during the intervening years please? My virus checker doesn't like the steamandthings.com link posted above, it says it's a phishing site! To make my reply more interesting, here's a crop of one of my dad's photos taken at Rugby on 1/6/79 of a recently ex-works PMV, showing an example of the lettering required. RMweb Gold Dan Randall Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2021 Hi Beclawat As the originator of the transfer artwork, I just clicked on my original link and it took me straight to the Steam & Things web site! However, having gone to their home page and copied the link at the top, it now seems to have an additional slash on the end, so maybe try this one?.... http://www.steamandthings.com/ Clicking on “Contents, Products, Transfers”, took me to a list of what was available and BR PMV/CCT transfers were at the top.... I couldn’t see any mention of prices, but I’m sure an email to them would sort that out. Note: I forgot to include any suitable vehicle numbers on the artwork, so they’ll have to be sourced elsewhere! Regards Dan
RMweb Gold Not Jeremy Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2021 John Isherwood at Cambridge Custom transfers does them I think, certainly in yellow for green painted PMVs as I have some in 1/32 scale.
Butler Henderson
Thats the issue, appropriate yellow transfers are freely available but ones in white with the correct font are not. They might be available from down under but what would be the postage and would an import tax and VAT be applied? RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 8, 2021 If the number font is the same as the weight font, then steamandthings can knock the numbers to any size you like relatively quickly and at not at a lot of extra cost. I used them a few years ago, when I wanted some bespoke PO wagon lettering and they were very reasonable, provided it was one of their stock fonts. I sent them what I wanted and they sent me a number of sample fonts that were close, for me to choose from.
Beclawat
Thanks for the pointers folks. Dan, thanks for the link. I'll fire off an email to them to see if they could do a lower case version, as Siberian Snooper suggests. Not Jeremy, thanks for the suggestion of Cambridge Customs Transfers, I see the PMV listed on their site but it doesn't mention the colour or period, so I suspect it is indeed the 'steam age' version with yellow text. Cheers all
hmrspaul
The number is standard rail alphabet introduced with the corporate image in 1965. Because of the cramped space they have taken some liberties with the small detail writing, but that has been produced on the special transfers. CCT will be steam age - pre 1965 style.
