RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted November 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2019 (edited) And to celebrate the 1000th reply on this thread I’ve finally had a play with my static grass applicator I think I may need a little more practice but I was keen to get some on the layout Edited November 8, 2019 by chuffinghell spelling correction 16
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted November 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2019 Pretty damn good for a first attempt mate, I can't see anything wrong with it. I really like how you've got different shades blending into each other, it looks much more believable than just a carpet of one colour. AlfaZagato
Looks good, man. Or would 'Good on you, mate' be more appropriate?

Thanks Al I’ve used three colours, each colour a different length 2mm Autumn first followed by 4mm Summer then a patchy layer of 6mm Dead Grass 7 minutes ago, AlfaZagato said: Looks good, man. AlfaZagato
I'm here for that Mikado, now. I wish someone would do one in N. I think Worsley only does the Consolidation as an etch.

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted November 8, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2019 Just applied the second layer so it looks less like a snooker table cloth 1st layer was 2mm Autumn, this second layer is 4mm Summer Tomorrow I’ll go over it again with a patchy 4mm and 6mm Dead Grass I also plan on building up the baseboard behind the platform so I can grass it and have some foliage behind the platform fencing.

I’ve used a WWS applicator War World Scenics had a 20% off sale in September so I took advantage of the sale and got the Pro applicator kit with a selection of static grass 1

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted November 9, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2019 I’ve applied the 4 & 6mm dead grass, as patchy as my OCD would allow I’ve tried to make it at uneven as possible, it’s supposed to be wild and unkempt so I didn’t want a flat and level cricket pitch effect Needs to be left for the glue to dry (hence the white spots) then I can remove the excess and tidy it up I doesn’t half make a mess though, I’ve got just as much grass on the floor as I have on the layout
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted November 9, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2019 That looks really good, even in close-up. Nice job Chris. I use WWS stuff as well. I mix their 2mm patchy grass with 4mm Woodland scenics mid-green. Al.

I just use my Ryobi cordless handheld and that seems to do the trick as long as I don’t use it for anything else first
