Which diesel locomotives had great performance and bad within their classes?

Should be moving under its own power again before too long, too.

We were hoping for a Sept start up, but a host of niggly issues has put paid to that. Definitely next year(again)!

If anyone needs a particular photo for modelling reference, give me a shout.

I’m guessing that’s why they found considerable use in engineers use then later in life. Older redundant ex passenger use locos, largely unloved with not much other work to do, but would pull decent loads allbeit at no great speed, perfect for the job really?

See above... Manchester - Barrow, Blackpool, Southport occasional Blackburn were a summers entertainment with all 31’s, Heat, No Heat and 31/5’s... plenty of passenger work, but they had a bad rep...

You’d see em leave, but weren’t sure what would come back.

I’ve a few dozen pics of 31’s on pax around Manchester. I do remember occasionally they turned up for the GUS parcels at Bolton, which was often 10 GUVs... that was a struggle but they did it, single handed.
