RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 25, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2018 Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me if they know where a reasonable set of drawings have been published for the LNER J72s? I have a copy of the weight diagram but what I am looking for is the kind of scale drawing that would be useful to a modeller; a GA drawing would also fit the bill. Thanks in advance. Regards, Alex. MarcD
Hi Alex There as a set of GAs in the OPC drawings at the NRM in York. If you go to their searchengine section and go to the drawings list you should find the reference and then you can order them. You can either get them in paper, CD-ROM or as a down load. micknich2003
Alex, there was a series of J72 drawings mid '90's in the now defunct "Modelling Railways Illustrated" magazine, these were made from GA drawings.

Mick - can you member which edition? Regards, Alex.
RMweb Premium Daddyman Posted October 25, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2018 This is a useful resource for finding drawings in modelling mags. http://www.brmna.org/xref/locolner.htm Nov and Dec 1996 for the 2 parts of the J72 DRGs, according to this.
Steamport Southport
Railway Modeller October 1990 has drawings and an article by Ian Beattie. Might be easier to find. I know from experience that finding issues of Model Railways Illustrated are like finding hens teeth. Usually a good magazine if you do find them though. RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 25, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2018 Hi again, Thanks for all the references. I used to buy MRI from time to time but now wish I had bought, and kept, them all. Same goes for Modellers' Backtrack. I do still have a couple of copies of MRI and always find the Profile section fascinating (even if irrelevant to what really interests me). Thanks again, Alex. RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted October 29, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2018 Hi everyone, Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who posted or contacted me by PM with ideas, links, etc. I have now ordered a couple of used 'non-runners' to experiment with. Also on the way are a couple of books, one of which is Yeadon's Register - vol. 43a. The current edition of Backtrack also has a few pages of colour photos so I'll pick up a copy of that too. Once I get started on the modelling side (sometime into the new year) I'll start a new thread and, assuming I don't make too much of a mess of things, I'll post some images. Regards, Alex.
