RateTheFreight
Afternoon all, hopefully a simple question to resolve. Bachmann are adding a couple of variations to their ex WD wagons in oo9 and the ones that principally caught my eye were the ‘express dairy’ van and ICI wagon. Are these liveries based on a historical prototype or are they a flight of historical fancy? Greg
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted March 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 30, 2019 The express dairy one certainly is fantasy, not seen an ICI one, is it the SR cream one? They have done the WW1 loco and stock in SR livery to go with the Heljan MW's for those modelling freelance Southern and preservation type layouts
moonlight
The express dairy was a genuine livery ... for a standard gauge wagon. Pure fantasy for narrow gauge. Very few private owner wagons for narrow gauge. I am only aware of MOY and JLL Peate, but there may be some more. Pete
BernardTPM
There are quite a few on the Statfold Barn Railway, but they made those up themselves, so they're only a prototype if you're modelling that modern line!
HonestTom
I don't know if the ICI wagon is authentic, but ICI did have at least one limestone quarry that was narrow gauge served. It's not an implausible livery. As for the egg one... yeah, no.

JZ
As most narrow gauge layouts are based on a non-existent prototype, I think some could justify having them. Whatever suits your scenario. Why not local coal merchants. Edited April 16, 2019 by JZ
RMweb Premium Nile Posted April 17, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 17, 2019 Rare, but they did exist. PO coal wagon
