Would agree 60969 is the south end of York. The roof lines of the buildings on the right behind the shunting engine and carriage are a confirmation.

The last one of the recent four looks very much like Paddington.

That County one could be identifiable if you know the area it's in. Obviously on shed with hills in the background.

Could be one of these if it's at it's home shed.

the nearest my dad got to the south west with the camera was a trip to south Wales but all of those photos have location details on the back

I thought Paddington, because top right looks like the girders of Bishop's Bridge which the loco has just passed under.

From various bits of info it looks as if the County spent its time after leaving the West Country either dead at Swindon, undergoing attention, working at Shrewsbury then dead at Swindon until cut up.

Well, the loco seems to be intact and the tender full of coal so it's probably Swindon ( Are there hills like that ? ) or somewhere it's worked to from Swindon.

That chimney behind the 'Duke' should be recognisable.

53C was Hull Springhead, but I don't relate the picture to Hull.

not knowing the locos allocation and only photos taken in the  Darlington and York area in that part of the world that's what made me think it was the Darlington

they there are on other pictures taken in the hull area

John, when you suggest Darlington you are probably right, the roof pitch of the signalbox certainly suggests that area. Yours, Mick.

All of these appear to be at Neath.  The station looks like the west end of Neath General while the prairie and the 'Castle' are on Court Sart shed - the pylon is a big giveaway.  So I do wonder if the 'County' was also photo'd there?

I have a slight doubt about the location credited for the photo of 3719, as there was no passenger station at Swansea East Dock (or East Depot, as it was generally known) . I wonder if it could be Morriston West?

Brian,

There was a station at Swansea East Dock - it was the Rhondda & Swansea Bay Railway's Swansea terminus.  However it closed in 1936 so that photo very definitely wasn't taken there.
