Depends on what you mean by North.

Very much a GCR locomotive and was common in the North West (Liverpool & Manchester), around Sheffield and other parts of West and South Yorkshire. and even got as far as Wrexham. Also worked in ex GNR areas.

I don't think they got to the North East or Scotland though.

The furthest north I've found records of them getting are Barrow-in-Furness (10 for overhaul at Vickers Works in 1921) and Darlington (to be scrapped at Darlington North Road- 64426 - was this the only one?). Otherwise they could be seen from Liverpool and Wrexham across to the M&GN at various points as stated above. They were allocated to Gorton,  Liverpool (Brunswick), Walton-on-the-Hill, Wrexham, Sheffield (Darnall), Barnsley, Mexborough  Frodingham, Immingham, Lincoln,  Louth, Retford, Staveley, Langwith, Tuxford, Annesley, Colwick,  Leicester, Woodford and Neasden at the dawn of Nationalisation. The few that were at Ardsley for a few years in the late 1920s-mid-30s may have been those to work the furthest north on a regular basis.
