robmcg
H15. No contest, had to foot it with better engines on tight headways, unsung workhorse. Looks good too. built 2/1924 withdrawn 12/1961
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 25, 2021 After some thought, I’m also going with the L1 for this poll, the Tri-ang model was very good. Rob.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 25, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 25, 2021 Next to feature is the 1.20pm Down Leeds and Bradford. WP Allen seems to be the regular choice for this duty at the moment.
2750Papyrus
I think I also have to go with the L1, a fairly late but classic looking 4-4-0. More than 25 years ago I picked up a representation of a Claud from a swap meet, using a cut down B12 body mounted on a L1 chassis. Quite good for its time, but would now be worth more as an original L1.
manna
G'Day Folks I'll vote for the W class, nice looking engines, didn't they get to Temple Mills ?? manna
RMweb Premium great northern Posted February 25, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2021 Plenty of interest despite the small number of candidates in the Southern poll. L1 won with 9 votes, W had 7 and Z 5. So now we can conclude this round of polls with the LNER. Any class introduced or rebuilt after 1923 which leaves a gap in the preservation list. I think we can include classes that are now being either considered for new build or where a new build has started, as that alone shows that their omission at the time was wrong. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted February 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 25, 2021 Out of many classes I’ll go with the B17/1Sandringham’s. I think there may be one that is to be built, but I’ve no more information than that. Rob.
LNER4479
Not that I'm being a sycophant or anything but I really would like to see a B17 in the flesh.
RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted February 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2021 I won't pick the Beyer-Garratt this time - instead it will be the W1.

Denbridge
My 1st 2 choices, a B17 and P2 have replicas under construction, so I will go for a K3, though i understand the A1 trust have a replica in mind at some point.

In just the next couple of years Tornado, Lady of Legend and the steam railmotor will be joined by the P2, plus the Brighton Atlantic, Betton Grange and the Patriot with several more at various stages of construction. Im sure none of us would have imagined, in our wildest dreams seeing so many lost classes brought back to life. Amazing.

RMweb Premium TrevorP1 Posted February 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2021 Original W1 please Gilbert. It should be in an engineering museum somewhere, along with 6202 and Fury (plus maybe even Bulleids turf burner).
