RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted June 4, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2019 Up on the Roof - The Drifters, sorry I thought I was still posting on the song title thread, but it works in very nicely with the next bit of the Acme Engineering Works as we are fixing the parapet on today. This has been made in sections from two pieces of mount board and slots onto the top of the walls and has then been covered with some texture paper. the roof surface has been made from mount board with the top surface paper removed which provides a nice texture, this has had a light dusting of grey paint and will be further weathered with chalks later. Next job will be the coping stones. All the best Adrian. 22

Porkscratching
Fantastic pics of Westerham, I knew Brasted , W'ham , Dunton Grn & Edenbridge etc quite well back in the 90s ..as I knew, and regularly visited, a few people who lived out that way..I never realised at the time there had been a railway line out there, Dunton Grn would be the last vestige?.. On the off chance, did you ever go to the 'Fox' pub at Brasted ? That was a great old place even in my day, run single handed by a lovely old dear, it was like being in someone's front parlour in the 1940s or something!..you even could buy a wide selection of chocolate bars behind the bar.. We went there once and they randomly had Morris dancers doing their stuff on the grass in front of the pub..! RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted June 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 7, 2019 Hi Porkscratching, would that be the Fox and Hounds pub up on Brasted Chart, if so I used to go in that and most other pubs in the surrounding area in the late sixties and early seventies happy days. All the best Adrian. http://www.dover-kent.com/2014-project-c/Fox-and-Hounds-Toys-Hill.html
Porkscratching
That's the one, I think it may have been 'Heather' the name of the lady who ran it ?? I'm going back to the mid/late 90s so doubtless she's not around anymore, and it's presumably been taken over, "refurbished" and blandified in the usual modern corporate way...
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted June 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 12, 2019 I must confess that I suffer from Acrophobia, even sitting on the settee watching some idiot walking half a mile away from a cliff edge makes me queasy, so I am glad that the roof of the Acme Engineering works is finished and that I can stay firmly on the ground once more. the parapet and coping stones are all in place and weathered. Pictures of progress so far, the signwriter has promised to paint the works door next week if the weather is dry. RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2019 RMWeb is an amazing place, sometimes... I bet if you said you were wanting to model a metric-threaded left-handed trunnion-screw with toggle attachment, someone on here would supply photographs and an engineers' drawing... Hi Al, that is so true and what a wonderful bunch of people there are on here. By the way you haven't got a a metric-threaded left-handed trunnion-screw with toggle attachment I could have please as I seem to have a screw loose. If this is modelling with a screw loose, I cannot recommend getting it tightened! 1 5
Porkscratching
On the WW2 theme, albeit with slight divergence, there must have been many installations on and around the track to protect what were considered strategic locations, thought this a nice example, (apart from the graffiti junk) ...you don't tend to see this kind of thing modelled in a railway sense.... 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post westerhamstation Posted July 1, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 1, 2019 Well at long last the signwriter turned up to sign the Acme Engineering Works doors, he was helped by his mate Bill Posters who fixed the 48 sheet poster hoarding to the wall. Some pictures of their handiwork are shown in the following pictures. All the best Adrian. 19
