After Reely Grate comes Primrose Hill

Mike

Recommended Posts

A bit more work on the transhipment shed, roof unfinished awaiting delivery from Slaters, no downpipes or guttering awaiting delivery of tube and half round styrene. The staircase is still not attached to the main building, but I have fitted the doorknobs and telephone insulators, the wiring will be added later. I have also distressed some of the brick work on the canal side of the building, still lots to do.:)

As previously posted Reely Grate will be at Kettering on 1st March 2014, the big surprise is that one of my ex layouts Lenches Bridge - now called Bankfield Road is also at the venue. So in effect I will have two layouts there. :sungum:

Another double-header, Mike! Just like the Hardwicke Show last year with your Spinners End and former Ashwood Basin there too. There must be nearly enough ex-Mike layouts out there to have an exhibition of just your stuff!

See you at Kettering

Cheers

Dave

OK. here's the first rushes of the crossing Keepers building based on the photo in the background. It's a sort of the one at Holly Bank, I thought it slightly different from the norm wink.gif

Just getting to grips with what will be the viewers side of Primrose Hill. Baseboard next, then track laying (already built) and then the buildings finally plonked. ;)

The buildings are only those that front the layout, the factory buildings including the forge will be next to be built and will form part of the back-scene. The track work will be then framed as per Reely Grate :)

OK it's almost done, requires ends on the gutters a good clean then paint and final detailing. I've just noticed a sign on the original  which reads British Legion so that will have to go on. It's my take on the structure in the book as I would not have had enough room to build it as is, simply because you wouldn't see the railway and it would have been far to crowded. I will be adding the 2 barriers as it is opposite the pub on two gates lane. OOPs! I need a finial for the top of the spire. ;)

Watching this one carefully, Mike. That crossing keeper's cottage is lovely; of course, now you've made a model of it, everybody will want one.

I've also actually started my Reely Grate/Moxley Heath rip-off reinterpretation in P4. SWMBO says I have to finish it (unlike all my prevoius layout attempts) ... so no pressure.

I will be watching with interest your P4 build, the track diagram looks good with the track set on the diagonal. ;)

Structures set out to get a feel of how the frontage will look, ply surface is not the real baseboard top. That still has to fixed in place. Base under staircase has warped so needs careful straightening. ;)

Perhaps this should start with "Can you tell what it is yet"? Answers on a post card please and no shouting from the back.

OK, its the start of Noah Hingleys Factory in low relief which will sit against the backboard and hide the switches for point and sections. It's 2mm lite-ply with plasticard overlays the blank areas are where the windows will be, I have already cut the plasticard for these recesses, However I am awaiting the windows via EDM from Port Wynnstay

The black areas will be concrete and the windows will have concrete headers and sills. ;)post-185-0-18393600-1395160097.jpg post-185-0-34392000-1395160108.jpg

Baseboard ply will be collected once my car is back from repair hopefully Monday/Tuesday. A Lady driving a hire car decided to change into the left hand lane to turn right taking out my drivers door.
