Meg and I hope to be there with Great Western Railroad although it's On30 rather than EM American!

Recommended - always a well run and friendly show.

Duly amended!

Cheers,

Mick

Eaton Gomery will also be there, but it is Cambrian with a hint of GWR & LNWR in 1908 and certainly not LMS steam.

Duly amended. I must have a word with our exhibition manager!

Just a little bump.

Over the weekend and this morning, a hardy band of club volunteers have been putting up the roadsigns. There's over 80 in and around the Hyndburn area - so no excuse for missing them.

This is our Hon, Treasurer footing the ladder for me.

I had my hi-viz on.........

More preparation for the show...

We (the BELMRS club) like to keep visiting exhibitors (and club members) happy by providing home-made cakes for consumption within the exhibitors rest area. The NB household has made a contribution to the cause.

NB junior likes to bake and this is only part of her produce. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with the cake colour. She likes to make a marble cake with food colouring - if only to disguise the yellow sponge!

Still awaiting a suitable topping of icing.........

Blackmill is set up and ready to roll on it's penultimate outing.

Here's a view mid-afternoon of the show being set up.

And later on - where's Wally..................?

And here's our leader photting Trevor Smith's Gauge 1 steam layout "Hoghton Bridge"

post-408-0-85411500-1409947437_thumb.jpg

The hall has been fitted with new lighting that is much more daylight than the old orange/yellow tinge that made photography interesting.

Looking forward to seeing other's pics of the show in due course.

Come and say hello on Blackmill.

Cheers,

Mick

I've had the pleasure of photographing Trevor Smith's superb Gauge 1 layout, Hoghton Bridge, this evening.

Trevor has brought the 50'+ layout over from France and it will only be on show at this one event so please make the effort to go and enjoy the spectacle of some fine machinery!

Yes; the lighting's super, easy photography light which is a massive bonus on a layout that size!

Here are a few snaps on my phone during setting up earlier today:

As Andy mentioned, Hoghton Bridge has come all the way from France to appear at our show as its one and only UK event.

Another visitor from over the water is Bleach Green.

This is a 4mm scale model of the NCC lines which came over on the ferry this afternoon.

I don't think you'll get too many chances to see this beauty on the exhibition circuit.

Kal and I were passing nearby, yesterday and took advantage.

Some pictures. I have also uploaded on AV for my own future reference. I didn't get everyone....but it wasn't for want of trying.

AVENFORD EAST

We were meant to go vote for the  best layout of the show, and forgot, and there were several contended Newbryford;s Blackmills was one outstanding layout.

Although I have a rather soft spot for this one.

med_gallery_17883_3195_780706.jpgrmweb2828show33

It has that particular stuff I like......water

the water in question was good...not outstanding....but look at all the other detailing he brings to the table....

med_gallery_17883_3195_355588.jpgrmweb2829show34

the crane, the buildings, the dock side interest

the boat...shame about my photography

med_gallery_17883_3195_220460.jpgrmweb2830show35

love the steps and brickwork

med_gallery_17883_3195_347588.jpgrmweb2831show36

the detailing, love the additional fencing on the line side gates

med_gallery_17883_3195_736432.jpgrmweb2832show37

those are probably wills cobbles...but they just look the business

TWO cranes the greedy devil...LOL

med_gallery_17883_3195_187613.jpgrmweb2833show38

some seagulls....for David Todd.....

med_gallery_17883_3195_258850.jpgrmweb2834show39

that been there, lived in look....full in the face

med_gallery_17883_3195_637680.jpgrmweb2835show40

and this wonderful building

med_gallery_17883_3195_108372.jpgrmweb2836show41

both upstairs...and downstairs......how cool is that....Sasquatch will probably be dribbling....as I suspect will Freebs, Westerhamstation and act-mr.

med_gallery_17883_3195_130679.jpgrmweb2837show42

Excellent weathering......we arrived late......so had no time to grill the owner for details unfortunately

edit= oh yes....the lighting in the room was quite good for an indoor no windows affair.....but the clever owner had two lamps strategically placed.....giving him some great shadows.

Eaton Gomery

I meant to go back and take more but each time there were people in the way, I suspect the little street scene will have you in raptures

med_gallery_17883_3195_313576.jpgrmweb2825show30

these Lancashire lads certainly understand atmosphere

med_gallery_17883_3195_392157.jpgrmweb2826show31

and the street scene......

med_gallery_17883_3195_230970.jpgrmweb2827show32

I especially liked the drapers stall over to the right

the colours are good....I just wish I could have got a couple of close ups.the green on the doors and windows and sooty exteriors.....all put you in mind....no synthetic colours here.

Notice the suits hanging on the shop front at the back.......

and looking at this picture....I did speak to one of the guys there......I asked him if he could move his arm as the shadow ruined the picture.....he very kindly did so...but started speaking to a young lad that was with him....before I could thank him.....

a nice bit of canal

med_gallery_17883_3195_536571.jpgrmweb28380show45

the dust on the water made it harder to photograph, but you do get dust on water...

med_gallery_17883_3195_282404.jpgrmweb28381show46

gorgeous colour work. Perfect for the era.

Stephen Kirby West.

?If my memory serves me well I think I saw a FOR SALE notice on this one.  :O

Kal said this one really caught his eye.

med_gallery_17883_3195_645.jpgrmweb2817show22

this spot was SO good I had to have 2 angles

med_gallery_17883_3195_20928.jpgrmweb2818show23

med_gallery_17883_3195_162597.jpgrmweb2819show24

the bull in the bottom right hand corner, has caught my eye before. But I have never managed to source it. At the show I managed to buy it TWICE. From two different sellers. More on them later.

med_gallery_17883_3195_647657.jpgrmweb2820show25

hes bit out of focus here, he is from china, but is a lovely little figure.

these buildings just ooze character.

med_gallery_17883_3195_457849.jpgrmweb2821show26

and up close the tiles the cattle are working on...really look the business.

some of the background perspectives are exceptionally good, here is a fine example, together with their low relief, there is a serious sense of distance

med_gallery_17883_3195_37394.jpgrmweb2822show27

and I like some of their detailing

med_gallery_17883_3195_412997.jpgrmweb2823show28

and just look at those cobbles

beautiful workmanship

It had a truly lovely glass canopy...but unfortunately I seem to have forgotten to take a picture!!!!  :O   :O   :O

Bleach Green

med_gallery_17883_3195_103092.jpgrmweb2805show10

a lovely countryside crossing

med_gallery_17883_3195_123666.jpgrmweb2806show11

a lovely water feature

med_gallery_17883_3195_489514.jpgrmweb2807show12

another

med_gallery_17883_3195_571423.jpgrmweb2808show13

the same greenhouse as photographed a bove

med_gallery_17883_3195_383187.jpgrmweb2809show14

my personnel favourite picture of the show.....the water moved backwards into the layout but i could not get a good snap of it. But just here the light was magical.

med_gallery_17883_3195_623676.jpgrmweb2810show15

and a little bit of interest as the trains moved off to the fiddle yard

med_gallery_17883_3195_599441.jpgrmweb2811show16

i didn't get to speak to the owners, but was mightily impressed with their work

I missed the Pendon pair.......kicks self up bum.......but this gentleman was to blame.......

Brian was really friendly and happy to chat.....I found his work fascinating

I spoke to Brian Davis, and he kindy gave me permission to post his work

med_gallery_17883_3195_130307.jpgrmweb2796show1

I am positive the likes of Sasquatch will find this of serious interest.

2 sizes of modelling pipe evergreen or similar

and one pot of paint

med_gallery_17883_3195_132366.jpgrmweb2797show2

old fashioned pot drainage pipes, all easily linked if you fancy a cameo of some pipe work being laid or repaired

med_gallery_17883_3195_41198.jpgrmweb2801show6

and stored in a wagon on straw....

med_gallery_17883_3195_606661.jpgrmweb2802show7

modelling A-Z.....

Nor was Brian a one trick pony, he had a whole host of ideas.

take some dowel

med_gallery_17883_3195_28656.jpgrmweb2799show4

and some Balsa laid at 90 degrees, he holds this over a large washer....and uses a nail clipper!!!!!! for the curve.......which he popped from out of his pocket!!!!!!!!

Like a little magician.......  :O

med_gallery_17883_3195_464202.jpgrmweb2798show3

med_gallery_17883_3195_238715.jpgrmweb2800show5

the wire he says is off cat5, I thought it was the jewellery stuff ladies like so much to make home made jewellery. Some wood stain and a bit of a google for the names which he prints off and these little stands.....

and next to those lovely terracotta pipes

med_gallery_17883_3195_606661.jpgrmweb2802show7

so classy

med_gallery_17883_3195_159468.jpgrmweb2804show9

His pipes are made using copper ...but he explained he has acces to a quarter million machine which makes the rings and he individually hand drills the!!!!!!! I can't imitate that!!!!! Well with plasticard maybe.

The wool bales? Dyed cotton wool.

And he had a nice pack of Knightwing plastic bits which he had utilised for several of the other wagon loads.

Superb ideas.  :sungum:   :sungum:   :sungum: I was so entranced I forgot to get the numb of the knighting plastic set...but I'll edit and add it if I come across it.
