RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted April 2, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2023 Good afternoon, everyone, and, thank you, Mick, for posting those photo’s and diagrams of Pocklington. I was only looking for some myself late last night. The photo’ of B1, 61199, departing on a Hull bound service is particularly good, and conveys how things were towards the end. Well, it’s a hard act to follow, but, thanks to John Turner, and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we see K3, 61892, as it runs light engine, along Selby Street, on its way from Dairycoates shed to Hull Paragon station, on the 20th February, 1960. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 3, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2023 Good late afternoon, everyone. This afternoon, thanks to John Turner, and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we have two photo’s of an unusual train, which is not able to be identified, unless someone on here can identify it. It has a V3, 67638, in charge, and has a Pullman car, two Gresley teak bodied carriages, a BR Mkl carriage, and some that is not indentifiable. The date is c1959, at Brough. RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted April 4, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 4, 2023 Good evening, everyone, and thank you, Mick, for the photo’ and diagram, of Alexandra Dock. As you say, that’s a great challenge for someone to replicate all that pointwork. Now, this evening, with thanks to John Turner, on Flickr, we see WD, Austerity, 90057, of 50B, has just passed Brough's outer distant signals, whilst in charge of a long Hull bound train of loaded mineral wagons, in c1964. RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted April 5, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 5, 2023 Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you, Mick, for that evocative photo’ of Beverley Cherry Tree. I remember it well from those now far away times, and watching 20’s and 37’s shunting the yard too. Well, this evening, we go to Brough, with thanks again to John Turner and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, and see a K1, and according to the caption, possibly York shed's 62009, approaching Brough from the Hull direction, in charge of an up breakdown train, in c1959. No other details are available. Best regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 6, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 6, 2023 Good evening, everyone. That’s fascinating, Mick. I’m just wondering how that was possible with those two boxes able to work those distants. It’s something I’ve not come across before. Have you anymore information? Well, this evening, with thanks once more, to John Turner and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we are at the west end of Brough station, from the Saltgrounds Road overbridge with a B1 working an up class A train, in c1959. Apparently the B1 is maybe 61093. The formation is a Conflat with a white insulated container, followed by a couple of Blue Spot fish vans, with the first carriage being a teak bodied Gresley, four compartment, BSK. micknich2003
Rob, somewhere I'm sure I have the "Special Instructions", East worked them as Outer Distants when West was closed..

Hadn't noticed on first viewing, but the platform lighting is a bit unusual in that the power for the electric lights is fed from open wires on insulating pots on top of the lamp posts. A detail no doubt that would be overlooked on a model of that period.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 7, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 7, 2023 Good afternoon, everyone. This afternoon, again thanks to John Turner, and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we are at Brough. We see Thompson Class 01, 2-8-0, 63663, of 41H Staveley shed, as it heads a westbound 'class H' freight along the 'up slow', in 1959. The caption adds that this appears to be just a short train of oil tanks and barrier vehicles, but closer examination of the original scan shows a significant number of other mixed wagons beyond the tanks. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted April 8, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 8, 2023 Good evening, everyone. Thanks, once again, to John Turner, and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we are in Brough, and seeing, in a rather grainy, but historical shot, of V3, 2-6-2T, 67686, making a spirited start from Brough with a train for Hull, in c1959. It is most probably the 5.15 p.m., and the headlamps show class 1, so the express, not the stopper. Note that the first carriage is a Thompson non corridor BS. RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted April 9, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 9, 2023 Good afternoon, everyone. This afternoon, thanks to John Turner and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, of newly overhauled Peppercorn, A1, 4-6-2, 60145, 'Saint Mungo', in store at Dairycoates, in April, 1964. We are back from this site’s update, so with thanks to John Turner and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we see Dairycoates allocated B1, 61065, as it heads an up Class H express freight, with a head of Earles Cement Presflo wagons, through Brough, in about January, 1964. It does seem quite ostentatious for a head shunt, as it's an embankment that bridges the main entrance to ALEX DOCK. Maybe there was a plan to extend to railway to link up with Victoria dock; just a thought.
