A derilict Springhead, and not long before demolition.

300DPI Springhead coaler etc.jpg

My Dad was part of the demolition gang that pulled all these buildings down.  I did read somewhere that the original intention was to convert them to private industrial use; but vandals had caused too much damage.

Hello Mick, do you have any idea where this shot was taken from? Are the houses in the background in East Ella or Spring Bank West? I remember these buildings as a child in the mid 60s.

Good evening, everyone, and thank you, Mick, for that excellent photo’ of Anlaby Road crossing from early days. That is a horse tram going over the crossing isn’t it?

Now, firstly, a further update regarding the footbridge at Beverley station. I have been informed, by the lovely lady in the booking office, that it is due to be completed by mid October. Whether that date is kept is another matter. Anyway, here’s a photo’ which I took earlier today, and it can be seen that jet blasting is currently underway. Apparently the top of the bridge will be blasted at night.

Now, let’s see a photo’ by John Turner and Peter Brumby, on Flickr, we are seeing Gresley V3 2-6-2T, 67684, whilst it stands in Brough station with an all stations 5:15pm local service to Hull Paragon station, in about 1963.

c.1963 - Brough, East Yorkshire.

An early view of Anlaby Road (Hull) crossing, looking to the town centre.

Rob, yes a horse tram and single line with passing places. The electric trams came in 1899 and pressumably at the same time the much bigger level crossing as we knew it up to 1964 when the flyover was opened.

The covered footbridge can still be seen at Beverley - though only now as an image on the side of the Hull Trains' units.   Here the Amy Johnson set prepares to work back to Hull on the evening of 24/7/23 having just arrived from London.

Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for that superb photo’ of Flying Pig, 43131, at Driffield, in the early 1960’s. It’s quite a sight covered in filth and muck!

This evening, thanks to John Turner, on Flickr, we see 03073 busying itself as station pilot at Hull Paragon, on the 3rd September, 1981.

I remember seeing this loco on Speedlink yard pilot duties in 1984; it didn't stay for very long before being transferred away.
