Seriously, if you do find them, please share.....

Cheers,

The DBSO I can probably give some advice on from memory as I was in those all the time but I very rarely went into the test coaches further back down the train on the PLP trains but I do remember taking pics of the coach your doing as I was going to do the interior of mine but I never actually got round to it, I know I’ve not posted them on line as they could be seen as ‘sensitive’ hence why I’ll struggle to find them as they will be somewhere on my computer

i may have sent them to @newbryford at some point so if he’s got them im sure he could send them to you as I recon he’s far more organised at cataloging his pics than I am!

Thanks Jim.

I'll do a sketch of what I reckon the inside of the RTOV looks like, and put it on here for you to comment on.....😉

I'm sure Mick is more organised than me too !!

So, my sketch for the inside of the RTOV looks like this.....

20231120_192927.jpg.33a063cf513c7706dbebe11133bcec4c.jpg

The cubicle/shower? covers approximately the same area as 1 seating bay. Where the blanked-out window is.

The cooker is behind the blanked-out window on the other side.

Does this look about right ??

Any help gratefully received !

Cheers,

Phil.

Looks about right, it is a shower but they were out of use when I worked them, there are kitchen units under the worktop  as well as an intergrated oven and also a fridge, can’t remember if there were wall units though

the wall between the guards area and seating had a TV on the left and iirc an old style BR style network map on the left

you can also lose the luggage cage and add a generator or railings/concrete base depending on which vehicle your doing, you could also lose the guards chair depending how far down the ‘newbryford’ route you want to go

Here’s a pic on departmentals website, looks to be one of micks

Thanks for the info Jim, much appreciated !!

I think Mick will be rolling his eyes at me, for not modelling a specific formation anyway, so I reckon I can get away with leaving the inside of the luggage area as-is....😅

Cheers,

Phil.

I'm fully aware that this is probably a pointless exercise, and OTT, but I'll know it's there......😂😂

This is the set-up I'm going for in 977868.....

Found an interior pic of 977868, which shows that the desks are actually one long counter worktop, and that the loose seats look remarkably like 3 loco driving seats bolted to the floor !!

Bit of re-working to be done….

Cheers,

Phil.

Had a piece of plastic box-section the correct width to make the worktop, to replace the desks.

Cut it to form a [ shape, but with a wide top, giving me a base to glue to the floor.

Original shape, and the piece removed....

Glued in place and painted....

(Bulkheads also painted Black to match the pic.)

Other interior details glued in place....

9703 has been completed.

Seats removed, and new floor added, then the 'shower cubicle' was added.

The kitchen area had to be sunk into the floor, to get the worktop to the correct height in relation to the windows...

Something to go on our 'museum' DCC layout next....

Which is just used as an excuse to have stuff we like, but that doesn't 'fit' with the era or area we model !

D7076 is the loco in question.

There isn't exactly a lot of room in the body for a speaker, so I investigated the possibility of fitting one in the fuel tank area.

Stripping the tank into its 3 component parts, I figured a Rail Exclusive 'baby boomer' speaker would just fit.

Tank in pieces....

20231209_131659(1280x960).jpg.e14188bb20b768613c200e73be295368.jpg

Had to file some strengthening ribs off the inside of the tank pieces to make room, and put notches in the appropriate places for the wires....

20231209_143013(1280x960).jpg.55e64e053600e4bcb3592d5d5ac00b71.jpg

The side pieces clip onto the underside of the chassis....

20231209_143041(1280x960).jpg.61e837257a0d48d5046d864f6ec8e2d4.jpg

20231209_143056(1280x960).jpg.d8d9890e29c8f4a3c53857940b1f1c29.jpg

Leaving just enough room for the speaker to go in between....

20231209_143228(1280x960).jpg.cb472332519808fa3a26b9bc6974729b.jpg

My plan was to leave off the centre section of the fuel tank, and just paint the Grey plastic speaker  housing Black.

I also intended drilling a hole through the chassis for the wires.

But after checking, I saw there was enough room to route the wires through the hole where the bogie is attached....

20231209_143742(1280x960).jpg.e0c01974be29750cfe31647ff91412d3.jpg

Also, fitting the centre section of the fuel tank back in place, made no difference to the speaker volume, so that's what I did....

20231210_154817(1280x960).jpg.707ca6b0214cb22aa2af871e1d994ead.jpg

Also fitted a cab light, and driver figure.

Cheers,

Phil.

Dbso interior is outstanding!

Spot on

Thanks for the kind words (& the help)

Gave them a run last night, after fitting mag couplings.

Corridor connections almost touching on the straights, and negotiated all pointwork with ease, pushing or pulling, so I was happy….

Then it dawned on me, I’ve no idea if the interior of my 9523 is correct…….🤣

Cheers,

Phil.

Ive had the fire alarm going off a few times on a DBSO when someone forgot to turn the oven off, also quite off putting when someone cooks a nice curry and the smell wafts through to the cab, not so nice with its a fish pie though!

Better than southern crews putting sugar and milk on hot plat ready for you to brew up 😧

9523 is  brake force runner - I think they haven't changed those - just left the seats in.

Thanks !

The interior parts came from a company called ‘3DPRINTINGCORNER.CO.UK’.

I originally found them on eBay, but they can be ordered direct from their website….

Careful though, there’s all sorts of random lovely things to order……😅

cheers,

Phil.

Bit more done to the Hymek....

The NEM pocket is on a sprung cam arrangement, connected to the bogie, which also has a representation of the airtank on it....

20231210_174532_resized.jpg.fbe011f761fd62a450e2e0dd25105b9e.jpg

So I ragged that off !!!....

20231210_174545_resized.jpg.2bff5a44260f35f43c02c50ecc62c676.jpg

the airtank is a seperate part, glued to the pocket, so I removed it, and glued a piece of plasticard in the recess.

After painting the tank White, and then the plasticard Black, it was glued to the back of the lip on the chassis block.

The bufferbeam is a seperate piece, which makes it much easier to add the various pipework, as well as homemade cabling and coupling backplate....

20231216_104552.jpg.634d62fc29c5b33360055d5736080a8d.jpg

I might well swap the supplied coupling for a better one....
