RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2019 How about very fine ash with a line of grass and weeds growing down the middle Bob? You could roll in into almost dry PVA with a wallpaper edge roller. Regards Lez.

Hi I'd certainly like to keep things as simple as possible......even something similar to the yard ash mix may do the business.....and be effective at the same time....? Regards always.... (modern versions include cycle paths.. and this is what latest version says about road widths and here is Predstrain routes This Book is a great resource for drawing and getting the size of stuff... but not widley known out of industry for example, how to load a 747 not related, but just to show it has EVERYTHING it's a fasinating read.. well i think so 3 1

BobM
Hi... Back in the dim and distant past when I started work,,,,and having an 'artistic background'......my first job was in a drawing office drafting up scaled drawings and designing road traffic signs, for minor roads through to the M25 / by-passes etc.....the rules and regulations to follow were huge and standard but from a 'sado's' viewpoint such as myself...amazing.... Still see 'my work' travelling around the UK......so if you ever take an incorrect turn it may be my fault...! Regards always Bob

The design of the road was other folks....I had to interpret these designs and make up the sign,,,,,the greatest pleasure came from the Welsh / English contracts....! At that time many signs were still silk screen printed...this was my favourite to redraw when required...wonder why..? BobM
Evening Guys..... Hope all are well.....? Awaiting the arrival of the 'extra girder' pieces to be able to continue the 'fitting out' of Llangeitho Road bridge.....in the meantime have cut a piece of mounting board to the width of the bridge structure and inserted this into the bridge, to give an impression of what the roadway may look like, have also given it a slight incline towards the summit of the bridge for perspective purposes.....? Could well use this mounting board as the surface, given a coating of either undiluted pva or artex, then an applied surface of ash / sand which could be painted an appropriate colour with further grass and weathering for texture along the edges / centreline.... Regards always.... Bob Edited March 4, 2019 by BobM 2
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2019 It's look very good Bob. I would go with the PVA rather than the artex. Regards Lez. 1

RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted March 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 6, 2019 You know what Bob? I would do the road as an old style gravel road. Now that isn't loose gravel. The gravel is rolled into tar like a tarmac road but they used gravel not stone chips. You could use chinchilla dust for the gravel and black PVA for the tar. Before you fit the deck seal it both sides so it doesn't dish when you do the road surface like the hard standing did mate. Regards Lez. 2
BobM
Hi...... Just an update to say that all the 'girder bits' have arrived, so will slowly add the cross beams and extra depth from beam...... Regards always..... Bob

Ta for the tip..... presume it's best to use 'neat' PVA on both sides sealing and for the black surface add weathering powders mixed in rather than paint...mixing in the chinchilla dust whilst it is unset? Regards always.... Bob Edited March 6, 2019 by BobM
