The all new class 60,very nice model.

It will come off the work bench as 60005 Skiddaw with Construction branding and a very light weathering to enhance the detail.

If anyone is thinking of getting one, then do so,you will not be disappointed...

Cheers all..........

Hi all,

Are the transfers supplied by Heljan good or am I going to have to use my stock of Fox and Precision labels?

I've got ten turning up in the next few days!!!

Regards

Vin

Hi All,

I received a loadhaul one this morning and have put the transfers on but the carrier film is quite prominent on the numbers. The sector logos should be cut as close as possible to the printing and this will eliminate this. I fitted the numbers and my etched nameplates but I considering using the Fox transfers for the numbers as the carrier films on them are minimal.

60008 with the red nameplates. I'm going to have to put some post 1998 electrification flashes on her.

A close up of the nameplates. Stainless steel for the nameplate and british gypsum plaque. Brass for the ship plaque beneath the main plate.

I'm really impressed with model, the detail is superb and far surpasses the previous releases.

Vin

Hi Steve,

They my have apologised for the error but I think they they won't be able to do anything about it. It would cost a fortune to rectify a third of the bodyshells. I'm going to leave mine until I can get some transfers to rectify it.

Vin

On this note, we've started releasing transfers for these. Starting with the most difficult (why make life easy for ourselves), here are the EWS 3 beasties in 7mm for those modelling a slightly later period:

These are applied in one easy transfer and cover whatever is beneath. Colas, DB Schenker, sub-sector, Transrail and possibly even Mainline to follow.

Thanks for posting the photos of the Triple grey version, modelman 14. After seeing your post I am struggling to resist purchasing one and I don't even model in 7mm! Looks a cracking model.

Hi all,

Those transfers look great and will add to the list of the transistions that the class 60's have gone through over the last 25-26 years since they were introduced.

Yes 25 years, where has that gone!

Hello all..

Had a chance to take the 60 apart today and do a bit of airbrushing, also used the supplied transfers to model number 5.

I think some different transfers would be better, the supplied ones seem thick and the backing is visible, but they will do for now..

The weathering is slightly darker in the flesh,my phone camera has overexposed slightly.

Vin,do you sell nameplates on a well known auction site?

If you do,they are your plates!

Still a couple of things to do to her yet, but  I`m rather pleased with the outcome so far.....

Hi,

Yeah they are my plates. You 60 is looking good with a light dusting of dirt. I'm still not convinced about the sub sector markings on the Heljan transfer sheet. It's the blue. There seems to be two different shades, if you compare the metals sector to the petroleum repeater flashes.

I have no idea who they used for their transfers but the topic of the shade of blue is an interesting one, just as we're going through that exact test phase on our 7mm sub sector sheets before we release them hopefully before Warley. Looking at photos of actual locos I think it's difficult to identify any sort of real consistency in terms of shade. Obviously it will depend on the lighting conditions when the photos were taken, even the graphics cards in our laptops in terms of how they interpret and display those colours, and of course whether the locos were ex-works. Best I can tell from photos of the Heljan model, the blue looks too bright/light, but that could just be me. Would be interested to learn others' opinions of how they'd like to see this different so at least when we release our versions, they're hopefully something that the 7mm community will find useful.

You need to change the worksplates on 005 too. The Heljan model has Brush Traction ones used on later locos.

It's a cracking model though, I sold all my model stuff (oo) years ago but I've just bought a 60 and I can see it being a slippery slope!
