Rugd1022
Where was the testing plant situated in relation to the station? Am I right in thinking to the east of the station after the GC overbridge? And can anyone tell me why there were two engine sheds? One huge one and one longer one with less roads? Yes Jeff, the testing station was to the east of Rugby Midland and just to the north of the GC route, which passed behind on an arched viaduct. 'Rugby Shed' technically consisted of four sheds, the main shed was made up of two twelve road sheds with a single road workshop in the centre, while the other 'long shed' you refer to was a very old LNWR style building which was on the site of the current DED shed, and at a slightly lower level too.
