AndyH
Hello all, I saw Colas 66846 speeding through Plymouth last Thursday with what appeared to be a twin, possibly stereo, camera rig at the rear. Anyone know what it is please? Also, why does Taunton have 2 snow plows? Thanks, Andy

Steadfast
It's called RILA, been on a few WCRC and Colas machines in the last few years http://www.vertex-se.com/pdf/VTX_CaseStudy_RILA_Vers2.pdf Jo
Glorious NSE
Ref the plows, they normally come in pairs, one for each end of the loco's.
surfsup
It's called RILA, been on a few WCRC and Colas machines in the last few years http://www.vertex-se.com/pdf/VTX_CaseStudy_RILA_Vers2.pdf Jo Indeed 66846 was used last week to do some gauging related work on a Westbury to Plymouth via Bristol and return with Fugro Rail Data RILA system - all as part of the GWML modernisation program related to the introduction of the FGW/GWR Hitachi AT300s. There's a few pictures and a close up of the RILA here. It's also been fitted to a few of Northern Rails units as well (and has survived fitting to a 142), and can allow laser gauging work to be carried out with the train in service or specially run, as opposed to the traditionalNR Yellow train. Jeroen1975
Hi there, i can give some more info about the RILA360 device. RILA360 is now the official name for this device. The 2 antennas are GPS recievers, On the bottem (V upsidedown) are the trackscanners, the blue/grey with black/yellow warningstripes are 2 "Z+F 9012" laserscanners. In the middle at the front you see the "Ladybug" 360 degrees camera. http://shpws.me/N6MK This is my try to make a miniature version of this item. thanks Jeroen
