  1. A local view: fine to get to your second/third home flying in to Newquay airport or going to a hen/stag do. Not much else. As previously mentioned. Jobs? Cleaning in hotels or burgeoning space industry? We have lift off! Even our local mayor questions it here. Accessibility to stations is important, but the only levelling up is allowing greater access and mobility to public transport already out of reach due to cost of realistic travel times. What survey data is there to prove the need? Other than holiday traffic… £50m could be used in other ways in a county/country where significant EU funding failed to raise the GVA three times (let’s not unpack that) and therefore fundamentally did not raise the living standards of the general population; those who need it. Castle HSTs have been great, but are soon to be withdrawn. 150s are still the main branchline stock. Written confirmation of extending the following stations from Tru: Fal Town/Penmere (how, without buying gardens?) Fal Docks, without buying land sold for a student residential monolith, or cutting the links to the docks forever. Penryn, you’d have to extend the passing loop, which is possible. Perranwell, possible to extend platform or run two. As a regular rail traveller in Cornwall there are other issues to deal with. 2. I’d definitely visit the Deutsches Technik museum in Berlin. Arriving at Berlin at the Hauptbahnhof is an experience in itself. It is definitely a ‘Bladerunner’esque multi layered station with reflective surfaces and lighting. Heading out west by train you pass through Elstal with the former railworks and roundhouse on the left. It is being redeveloped now, but an interesting sight.
  3. Also it is worthwhile considering the psychological impact upon the German population, even within a heavy media controlled state. The whispering rumour machine of such an event is in itself a powerful weapon of war. To be able to damage and destroy very large infrastructure projects, such as dams, is in itself a feat that shows your enemy’s capability. As much as it was a positive PR event for us, the impact upon German high command morale must be considered.
  4. Truro perhaps? Sawtooth roof in the background and pre the 1945 coal hoist?
  5. Hello everyone, Does anyone have copies of August and October 2008 Continental Modeller please? If not to buy, to take copies of the Pempoul articles on baseboard and building construction? I had a look on auction sites and others to no avail. Any help much appreciated, Andy
  6. Congratulations on your 20th anniversary. Even though I’m on your doorstep unfortunately work means I won’t make it. Here’s to another 20 years (Kernow MRC bys vyken??) and maybe an O gauge Beattie well tank *hint hint. Oll an gwella, Andy
  7. The old goods shed still survives. Apart from the footpath and associated bridges on the route not much actually remains at Newham. There are plans in the Wiltshire Council Archives of the track layout and a 1930’s storage shed. A former carriage was used as a store, as seen in a few photos. Andy
  8. Hello, Have a look here at the range of kits. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~bw9t-ymgs/draw/drawfrontE.html @NearholmerMy father brought back that catalogue from Victor’s on a trip to London and I remember pawing over these. On my auction house search list ever since, no matter how crude they are in comparison. andy
  9. Jona Lewie too. I guess you’d find him in the RKB… *gets coat
  10. As IanG writes above excellent customer service from David. Mine arrived on Saturday really well packed. Wholeheartedly recommend. Great to see the range of kits also. Thumbing through an old MRJ (p131. Issue No.95, 1997) saw the CC garage accessories, which hopefully will be part of the future re-releases. Cannot underestimate the challenge though, a lot of work well worth the support. No links, only a very happy customer. Andy
  11. Not sure but I think there may be something in Kresen Kernow in Redruth, kresenkernow.org, otherwise I would ask on the CRS http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/ Yeghes da! Andy
  12. Thanks Krusty, That’s a direction to go in, at least there is a GA to reference to pinpoint a search. Andy
  13. Thanks Gordon, I know there is an intro to the records here,Staffs archives, and for a search fee of £32/hr I could ask an archivist to search, which would be a costly game of roulette. My problem is getting up there to do it myself, hence asking if anyone knows of another published source. I barely cross the Tamar now, let alone make the interplanetary trek to Stafford! Andy
