Studio photographs of the Minerva Model Railways 0 Gauge RTR Victory Class 0-6-0T steam locomotive. This is a heavy model that will pull the skin off a British Army rice pudding, which, presumably, was part of the War Department's specification.

Note that the sandboxes, lamp-irons, front steps, smokebox door dart and cylinder drain cock levers are supplied as separate items for the owner to attach. The pack also includes optional tank vents, a range of GWR style tool boxes and an etched brass fret with manufacturers' plates for all 10 locomotives.

Regards,

Looking forward to mine, I think I ordered a red 'un, certainly with DCC sound. Red wheels though? I think they might be repainted black, along with the footsteps and maybe the cylinders. Weathered as well!

Look what the postman has just delivered:-post-7150-0-76789600-1480160789.jpgpost-7150-0-03280200-1480160802.jpgpost-7150-0-40753900-1480160820.jpg

Given it a run on my very-far-from-finished layout, and here it is on a train of bolsters, running as sweet as any sewing machine, straight from the box.

Looking really good Chris.  Were the red and green liveries based on any particular prototypes?

Ray.

Ray,

They are freelance liveries. The lined green matches the Minerva Peckett and Ixion Hudswell Clarke versions. The lined red matches the red Ixion Hudswell Clarke. We think the plain black livery is prototypical.

Chris

Back from Warley to find mine had arrived at lunchtime :-) had to wait till 10pm for me to open the parcel and find out it was the "victory". My micro is now starting to sink under the weight of this bruiser of a loco, the Dapol 08 and a half dozen Lionheart 16Ts !!

Right out of the box and she crawls along with a couple of 16Ts, needs some weathering and a name I think.

Does anyone know offhand the livery details of the Port of London PLA loco fleet ?

Here is a PLA loco that shows the lining. I have not found a colour photo yet. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7300/26362393193_064389ac7f_b.jpg

Tried my green Victory on our layout. Just took it out of the box, plonked it on the layout on a freight train, set the route for the steepest incline and turned the controller to about 30% and kept it there. Totally smooth and quiet, no slipping and minimal reduction in speed. Very satisfying!

Can I ask if anyone has any further info/ photos of the locos which ended up in industry, more specifically those which I believe ended up with the NCB ? What I'm really after if a full colour side shot of a late NCB livery, well might as well be hung for a sheep eh:-) seriously any info on what they looked like in their career and how they ended up looking would be extremely useful. I'm still going through ideas for how my green loco might gain a more individual livery. Here's hoping !

Victory class KS3068/17 went to Manchester Collieries and was named 'Francis'.  It was based at Walkden and there are several pages, including photos of it in 'Locomotives of the Central Lancashire Coalfield'. Be aware that between 1964 and 1966 it was fitted with a Giesl ejector and scrapped in 1968. Unlike many of the Austerities (which were maroon latterly) I think Francis remained in black but lined out with single broad yellow line. See https://books.google.com/books?id=awzXAwAAQBAJ&pg=PP17&lpg=PP17&dq=NCB+Walkden+loco+Francis&source

Cheers,

Ray.

Thanks Ray,

KS 3068 in Google leads to this http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/76110-moving-coal-a-colliery-layout-in-0-gauge/page-5.

Seems to be black till 64 then red, the model shows a simple to achieve livery, useful info. This rattled my brain and I remembered my copy of ' industrial steam album' Fox and King IA 1970 and on p 102. Are two photos of ' Francis ' one on shed and one side on ( ha!) when fitted with a Giesl ejector carrying a crest on the side of the cab and presumably in red. Now what's that crest ? The photo of an austerity on the following page also shows a similar crest ! More digging I think.
