Alloa - Layout - Current status?

My parents are both from Alloa and enjoyed seen the Scottish Region Study Groups Alloa layout on several occasions and seeing it become better and better over the years. It does not appear to have been exhibited in the last couple of years and the group seems to be embarking on a new layout. My mother thinks she saw something somewhere about it being given a permanent home. Does anybody know where that might be or have any information on the layout's fate.

Thanks

Still kept by the club, we're expecting to take it to Perth exhibition (next year I think?).

The exhibition diary is a bit quieter than it has been (not always a bad thing) but hopefully we will still pop up now and again at shows with Alloa. :)

As Jamie says, Alloa is set up and fit and well at our club premises. Since its first outing in 2008 at Model Rail Scotland it has visited many parts of the UK,  including Doncaster, Perth, North Shields, Stafford and Wigan before Model Rail Scotland again in 2013.

In 2014 we took it to Railex at Aylesbury and to Warley at the NEC in Birmingham. In 2015 we took it to Wakefield and, as Bon Accord said, we were at Model Rail Scotland earlier this year. We are anticipating an invite to go to Perth again next summer which we are all looking forward to.

In the meantime, to keep us occupied and entertained, we are building an even bigger layout - again an actual location in Scotland, OO gauge and late 50's early 60's ..... and on which Chas can run all 38 of his "Coronations"!

Thanks. That's good to hear. We'll watch out for it at Perth next year.

Delighted to confirm that Alloa will be one of the star attractions at Perth this June.  We are hoping to have 4 Scottish based layouts based on real locations, Alloa, Blair Atholl, Laurecenkirk and Arbroath.

Great. Thanks for the update. It will be nice to see Blair Atholl again as well

Is that the excellent Blair Atholl layout from years gone by with the light snow dusting? has it been exhibited for a number of years anywhere?

Yes it is the same lightly dusted with snow Blair Atholl will be appearing at Perth this June.  Only exception is that it has been refurbished and improved since you may have last seen it.

Snow in the middle of June, who would have believed it.

The bad news is that 4 real locations has become 3, Arbroath will not be attending, the good news is that it has been replaced by the fictional Craigport On Tay.

Just a quick follow up to my original post to say thanks to the group for bringing Alloa to the Perth show. It was great to see it again and both my parents (now in their mid eighties) spent most of the show alternately having a rest on the conveniently placed chairs right in front of it and standing up for a better view.

Have to mention Blair Atholl as well - another great one to see again.

Thanks
