What is the steam exhaust from the back of the tender?

Is the Duchess fitted with a coal pusher in the tender?

I think you'll find it was

more a case of too long for

the turntable at St. Blazey.

Think there's a photo of it being turned at St Blazey with much overhang and millimetres to spare in wheelbase. (I believe they had to demolish a fence for clearance) Also, I think the air pump for the brakes is stashed in the tender so the steam coming from the tender would most likely be that.
