A real strategic reserve

The video doesn't do this place justice, it is HUGE... 4-5miles in length, and takes quite some time to drive past it.

Most of the aircraft there are boneyard spares, but there's many intact, but reality is most will never fly again.

Mohave is the civil equivalent, but is no where near the size in number. (Ie <1000)

Victorville has aircraft a bit more "airworthy".

worth looking up on googlemaps.

Obviously the aircraft with possible reuse in mind are the ones with covers over engines, cockpits and moving surfaces. Its a shame that EWS didn'T do similar to the class 60s, 90s and 92s instead of just letting them rot.

Or to resell the parts. The parts need to have their certification up to date (including ongoing maintenance) or they are scrap value only. A friend of mine used to maintain the database for Ansett Airlines after they went bust. Parts were still being sold 10 years after the airline shut done.

Some planes were sold a bit less than that. Apparently some mob had a deposit for a small number of planes for a few years, when they come to purchase them outright, they had been sold, weeks before! Sorry I don't know the details of which aircraft they were.

They are still in the business of Spares & Services, whatever that entails.
