update for my loft empire

Superb Jack - thanks for sharing the update video here for us to enjoy.
Really like seeing the ‘overall’ shots that give a feel for the size of the layout, as well as showing the consistency of modelling throughout: from the fascia knobs to the backscene everything looks great, and completely convincing.

Having recently read Thomas Klimoski’s Kalmbach book: “Building the right-sized layout” I’d say Lakehurst is a great UK example and built to a standard to aspire too.….I just hope this doesn’t mean you’ll soon be telling us you’re taking it down to start over again!  Keith.

Conrail fleet is growing, first up is an Ebay bargain(are there really any bargains left) Proto 2000 GP38-2 £41, just needed a service. Second is a U25B from Hattons when they had there sale on £59,again just a service.

Both are as new i don't think either have been run, both need decoders, just got to make my mind up, do i need more sound diesel or pair them up with a sound fitted loco.

Been a good month so far two new toys and an article in RMC

Been a while, but not been standing still!

Due to a major new contract with a paper mill in Maine, Reliable paper recycling building has had an upgrade, 8 spots for box car(pulp out) and a tank car unloading spot, chemicals to take the ink out of the paper, now need a rethink on op's.

Another area i've just finished is where Lakehurst yard was, it was two stub end tracks, which have change to a branch line which leads to a smaller fiddle yard and an off spot track.

Decided i need some where for my ever increasing collection of Eastern road PS2 2bay hoppers, so added a spur of the branch to a sand loader, just a few trees to replant and it's ready for service.

Just replaced all my home made derails with some from Yelton models in Canada, postage is $25 Canadian dollars i ordered 6 packets, it worked out about £5.50 a pack of two, there well made and work well, there are left and right hand derails,  i replaced the brass wire provided with a cut down Peco track pin, means i only need to glue one end.

Ray you are a very bad influence!! Of course I just had to go look & see if they do them in O Scale, didn't I..?? 🙄🙄🙄

Yes, they do, $10CA a pair, left or right handed... I only need four.... 🤔

However, I am saved - sort of. They're designed for Atlas track with Code 125 rail. Being awkward as always, I would need them for Code 100. 😇😉😁😁

Back to making my own - one day!!😬🤐

Short line L&M RR have a switching contract with most of the industries in Lakehurst IP, in case they need a car moved or spotted, to day there pulling some loaded box cars to spot empties, the loaded will be picked up by the Monday Conrail freight JS-1.
