After the excitement of the express roaring through here is the other side of the coin.

A slow old mixed freight winding its way sedately along the track....

As ever @KNP a lovely scene.

But they might have had a single post lift outside, not uncommon,

but rather dangerous, banned after at least one death!

Beaulieu Motor Museum has a rendition of a 1930's garage.... somewhere or another I've got a bunch of photos I took there in 2016...

Lets calm things down.....

With some ambient sounds of wind whistling through the trees here are some trees to put you into a tranquil and peaceful trance.

Breath slowly and deeply...

Stare in the pictures and.....

Are you all calm now?

I've been slowly working my way through this thread, and am (almost) lost for words.  These few photos are wonderful though!

What a wonderful layout!  I've now caught up with the story of Little Muddle (although I confess I didn't read every single word...) and feel as if I know some of the characters involved.  Superb modelling skills, and pretty good story telling as well.  Greatly entertaining, thank you Kevin.  I'm looking forward to seeing how the new development - well, develops!  And I am sure this thread will be a great resource of ideas as I make a start on my first layout, having just got back into railway modelling after a very long gap.

Thanks again!

The Old Pub

Bit of work done on it today.

Roof to lower garage tiled, just ridge to do

Added some odds and ends from the scrap box to fill interior

Looking through the upper roof before it’s fitted at the junk, anything and everything used

Not to worried as to the practical side as at the back of the layout and I just needed shapes and colours.

Still emptied the old scrap box a little which why I never throw useful looking items away.....!!

That’s very appealing , all that junk looks really useful.  I was wondering if the owner, for security,  would want to shut up the business at night, but in the limited space doors might be a problem.

Perhaps this might help- the garage in Limpley Stoke, short of space,  has some early ‘ bifold’ doors., seen here in 1950, open, and 2019 ish Google Maps, closed.

Just out of interest, this is the sign on the left hand door of the garage in the 1950 picture. They were printed on aluminium and were reflective when new.

I’m impressed that you could read between the pixels, but another nugget from rmweb !!

It's a peculiar talent I have for spotting obscure rusty junk, added to the fact that when I was about ten, I found one of those signs nailed over the window of a derelict garage. As you may have guessed, it wasn't nailed on too well!

Much squinting at the petrol pump and I think that it was dispensing Esso Extra. The pump is a calculator type and would only be a few years old.

The item attached to the wall just to the right of the pump is a tyre pressure gauge from the days before garages held you to ransom to blow up a tyre. It's either a PCL or Laycock item, they were virtually identical.

Thank you for identifying the fittings, I’m guessing the car is an E series  Morris, ‘49 ish.

It actually looks more like an Austin Ten tourer, '37 ish.

Your going to get on and build a cattle dock now?

Ought to give it some thought as I don't have one, Shipton-on-Stour did which I based the station on come to that.......but saying that nor did it have a harbour either that far in land.
