RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted July 11, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 11, 2017 I've been collecting examples of Brian's printed works over the past 6 months, and have exchanged a few messages with him about the possibility of making them available again at some point. This is documented on a thread on NGRM forum (Narrow Gauge Railway Modellers)... http://ngrm-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17997-drawings-by-brian-clarke/ Thanks for the tip, James, I've now joined that forum. It's a very interesting thread over on there.
rockershovel
Fascinating to see these extremely small locos and rolling stock...
James Hilton
To bring this thread up to date from my perspective - I continue to be inspired by Brian's work in 005, and have pioneered my own path using Busch mechanisms in 006.5 https://paxton-road.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/006.5 I've not made any progress with Brian on making any of the material I've collected more widely available - I'd love to get on with the idea of a re-issue of the Churchwater book, I still love flicking through my tatty copy.
Phil Parker
Let's give this thread a bump. For the July issue of Garden Rail, I'm having a bit of a "kits found at the back of cupboards" section and my contribution is a Saltford 16mm Simplex, which is now in primer. Brian's kits are very much in demand - a Polar Bear and coaches recently sold for over £300 on eBay. I might have been tempted at half that... 5
Phil Parker
Another bump - a bit more Saltford 009 action on my blog today: http://philsworkbench.blogspot.com/2023/01/saltford-models-polar-bear.html 3

They are going to be fiddly to restore though.
Nearholmer
They were a nightmare to build.
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2023 Fascinating (and heart warming) that Brian's work still attracts so much interest. I really wish he was still 'into' model railways but he has other interests now.
RMweb Gold 08221 Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) I’ve got a 009 Alan Keef AK40 boxed away somewhere that I got in the early 90s. Finished it in contractors orange and black, it was always a bit of a jerky runner! Sure that it was one of Brian’s kits. RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted January 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2023 I look after a few of Brian's models these days. This is his own 009 Ruston, which is on long-term loan for use on the peat railway on Bleakhouse Road:
DioramaDave
So another recent bumb and more great models. I've had the privilege of spending time with Brian Clarke this year, I have included a link to an archive page on Facebook, saltford models retro, created by Brian himself. Be patient with the admin though, tiny page. My dad helped Brian install the 2 ft gauge In the garden and I attended the open day with him. Often went to q bridge steam museum with brian as he had a trade stand. Photo is from 1994 open day Brian myself and my sister. RMweb Gold Not Jeremy Posted February 24, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 24, 2023 That's a great photograph! And on the right is a young Jasper Cox, who has built up the very successful Strikeforce Supplies business in the intervening years. We all met at Midord in the mid eighties, where Brian and I built the "Tucking Mill Tramway". Simon
