steve1
It has a different name now but I can't remeber what it is. I stockpiled the original and am still on that. Basically, it's floor polish that sets hard, clear (clue in the name), and is usable straight from the bottle. No surface tension issues like PVA/water mix. steve
RMweb Gold Tony Teague Posted March 19, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2017 I personally have always used 3mm cork tiles under my track - my perception is that it does have some sound absorbing qualities, plus it helps form a ballast shoulder, and is easy to pin track to. The tiles I use are NOT sealed as I believe that this would negate most of the qualities that I am looking for. I have bought tiles from a number of outlets by mail order, most recently from: http://www.siestacorktiles.co.uk/ [no connection except as a satisfied customer]. JZ
I use 3mm grey Depron foam. Unfortunately, presumably due to careless handling by couriers, now only available as full boxes of 40 sheets, but works out at roughly £2 for a 3'x4' sheet. Easier to cut than cork and if you're modelling a depot, it can be 'dented' for undulations. http://www.depron.co.uk/prices.html
