RMweb Premium petethemole Posted June 1, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 1, 2018 D5358 at Ballachulish Sept 1964. The light was dreadful, see the cloud level in the background. I don't think it was actually raining as I probably wouldn't have stopped for the shot. I was on a fortnight cycling tour of the West Highlands and it rained every day except the first and last. We travelled there and back by train.

pH
Wet? Scottish? Taken from the old loading bank, then in use as a car park. Regards Ian Ian, Stoneybrae wasn't a junction. The only running connections between the lines to Elderslie and St. James were at Wallneuk Junction at the Glasgow end of Gilmour Street and at Arkleston Juntion further east. I believe there was, at one time, a siding between the lines at Stoneybrae, accessible from either, but that was all. (I have a very vague memory of what I think was a WD sitting in it , many years ago.) If I remember correctly, Stoneybrae had two frames, one for the ex-Caley lines and one for the ex-G&SW lines. The weather in this next picture might not look too bad, but it was taken after the 'great freeze' of 1962-3 had set in. In the week I took it, I actually walked on the frozen River Doon.
