Psiborg
WALES TRIP In the early hours of this morning we (Shaun, Matt and I) arrived back from our third annual photo trip to Newport in South Wales. The first thing we saw when we arrived at Newport this year... This year we decided to add a visit to Lord & Butler in Cardiff to our itinerary. After initially resisting temptation, I bought a new wagon, a Bachmann EWS OBA wagon weathered by themselves. Perfect Paul
The EWS wagon looks good and I'm sure it will be a welcome addition to your layout. Lord & Butler's weathering is always applied to an exceptional standard. Cheers.
vulcan product fan
Bachmann DB Schenker class 66 with LegomanBiffo Loksound v4 sound decoder shunting BYAs Simon I think the 66 sounds very good mate i like it more than the 60 that sounds a bit shallow .

The horn on the 66 is phenomenal, I'm sure the neighbours love it! - it's just like standing on the top of the bank at Toton and hearing it echo! They both sound better 'in person' as my phone isn't the best for movies! (or pictures! ) Simon
Craig1989
Been following with interest for some time and a brilliant little layout. You are right about the 66s I've got 22/23 of them and most are fitted with biffs sound chips and the horn is amazing Cheers Craig

Psiborg
MINOR DETAILS Not a lot has been done today, just painted a few pallets and barrels. I'm also having a go painting a couple of figures - the one shown is from the new Bachmann "Factory workers and foreman" pack Simon Edited May 23, 2022 by Psiborg reload photo

Psiborg
APPRENTICES ARRIVE The other figure I painted I wasn't sure it was going to look right, but came out OK, so I have fitted it on the layout... Psiborg
I MADE A HOLE AND FILLED IT! Not much progress recently, all I've done over the last few days is fit the XpressNet adapter plate to the front of the layout Simon Edited May 23, 2022 by Psiborg reload photo
Psiborg
SCENIC BREAK Not much has been happening on here recently as I have been doing a few details on Annesley Woodhouse. This week, however, Jubilee Road Wagon Works was taken to Shaun's house so work can begin on the scenic break. This is how it looked at the start of the evening... I applied a bit of scatter to the hanging basket liner to give it a 'greener' look I intend having trees and bushes on the land behind the footbridge, hopefully, obscuring the view into the fiddleyard. With this in mind the four of us (Shaun, Matt, Paul and I) had a go at making trees to fit this area and here are the results... They should be fixed on the layout next Monday evening! Midnight-Freight
This is just incredible. I was quite pleased with my own first attempt at scratchbuilding a loco maintenance depot but your work shows I have a long way to go. Stunning!

Thanks for the praise but my first shed, in 2006, wasn't so good I just used the Peco shed with a plastic card roof! TangerineWizards
Your track weathering is brilliant (as are the entire scenics!). How do you go about getting the colours for the track? Do you weather before or after laying the ballast?
Psiborg
Your track weathering is brilliant (as are the entire scenics!). How do you go about getting the colours for the track? Do you weather before or after laying the ballast? I usually paint the rails with Phoenix Precision Paint "Rusty Rails", It doesn't matter if it is before or after ballasting After ballasting, the track is weathered using an airbrush and Phoenix Precision Paints P991 "Matt Track Dirt" followed by P981 "Matt Dirty Black". I don't have an airbrush so Matt (RMWeb: Heinz57) came over with his airbrush and weathered the track for me. This is the third layout with the track weathered this way and it's another job well done! Railmatch do similar colours, but I had the Phoenix paints already Hope this is helpful Simon Edited February 8, 2018 by Psiborg

NHS Building (015).jpg ...which was a main feature on my London Road layout zzzzz (2).jpg Simon That looks pretty good for a first attempt to me. I love some of the detail and touches you have added and it's very close to the kind of look I would like to achieve. I shall certainly be trying out some of your techniques as well as possibly 'borrowing' a few ideas here and there.

Psiborg
TREE UPDATE 1 Monday evening the trees were glued in place on the layout. Here is a before and after of the right-hand board... Psiborg
TREE UPDATE 2 These photos will show how I have used the trees as a view block at the entrance to the fiddle yard. Firstly showing the positions looking down the tracks... ...the effect when viewing the layout... ...and when looking at the footbridge, which is now glued in place (so it doesn't end up on the floor, again! - thanks to Shaun for patiently repairing it when I could quite easily have launched it into the bin) Here is a view with Paul's latest purchase... After hoovering up the loose scatter, I noticed that Snowball the cat had ran off (obviously scared by the noise) 😭 Shaun says that he may find her when he changes the bag! 🙀 Thanks for reading Simon Edited May 23, 2022 by Psiborg reload photos
