Benbow
After what seems like years of inactivity due to ill health I managed to get back in the shed to play trains operate my railway. However all was not well . Poor running over what had previously been good and reliable trackwork. No amount of fault finding seemed to isolate the problem other than pinpointing the crossover in the station. Well you know how it is, out with the chisel and start to carefully lift the turnouts except that it wasn't carefully enough and before I knew it the whole lot was coming up! So what to do? Off to Alton Model centre for some code 75 to replace the code 100 previously used (did consider the new Bullhead but not sure having heard mixed reports) and some Cobalt IP Analogue motors. New cork underlay down and trial fit of new trackwork. At the same time I decided to move the milk depot from it's previous position to behind the station where the Goods Shed used to be. I had never really been happy with the site of the GS as it was very cramped and didn't look too realistic. After a bit more chisel work an area was cleared for a trial fit. Moral of the story is 'be careful what you start as one thing seems to lead to another!' Roger
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted July 11, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 11, 2017 That's a lovely looking layout - have we seen it on this forum before?

RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted July 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 11, 2017 Really pleased you are feeling fit enough to get on with stuff. Been there, done that too may times. Looks like your 'mistake' was, in fact, a benefit as the C75 etc will be much better and I think you will like the Cobalts. The old layout looked great....this one can only be better. All the best, however do get some proper job BR SR loco's Phil
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted July 11, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 11, 2017 I missed this one previously as well. Presumably an SDJR branch terminating in St James?

RMweb Gold scottystitch Posted July 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) What a cracking little layout. The weathering on the roof of the station building, for example, is extremely well achieved. I like the 'jig' you are using for maintaining the the gap between the track and the platform. The grot and grime on the milk tanker and it's locomotive is inspirational. Did you weather them yourself? Benbow
I missed this one previously as well. Presumably an SDJR branch terminating in St James? Yes, branches off from Templecombe and basically follows the line of the A30 towards Shaftesbury. As the town is on the top of a hill (a problem also found by the LSWR!) the terminus in true S&D style is some way from the town.

Wigan Wallgate OO Gauge
May I ask, how'd you go about making the station building?
Benbow
May I ask, how'd you go about making the station building? Attached a series of photos taken during the build. Hopefully self explanatory but do ask if there is anything particular you want to know. If you hold your mouse over the photo it will give you a brief caption. Thanks for your interest Regards Roger Edited July 12, 2017 by Benbow
